Today was the day some etch primer was applied to the flanks of The Pest. After going round the car several times applying and then removing hopefully the last bits of filler I got some etch primer on it efore 7.00pm. Here it is now. Filler primer hopefully is the next stage tomorrow where I'm hoping I can get the car and all the other panels in primer. Cheers Col

Today it was primer day to lay on top of the etch of yesterday, about 2.5 litres of filler primer in all. This will be for the guide coat that will probably remove most of it once I start rubbing it back down again. Has to be done though. Will save that till later on in the week. Cheers Col.

Thank you. A splash of black guide coat went on tonight thinking I'd rub it back with the few hours I had. Only to realise it was P400 sandpaper I had with me rather than the P180 I thought I had. Oh well, the rubbing down can wait for another day now. Cheers Col

So been going back and forth since the last post filling and rubbing down the bodywork and repainting with primer/filler to try and get the best I can do. Here is the result still in primer but happy with the result on the arches and the rest of the bodywork to be near to be putting some colour on its flanks. Then I removed the masking as I wanted to put fresh tape and paper on before the colour and lacquer. Cheers Col

Yeh that's the final colour BS18E50 Cirrus blue from what you can see under the bonnet and the inside of the car, hoping to get it painted this weekend all going well.
Not that far from your own Imp colour wise I think?
Cheers Col.

Yeah a little lighter than mine maybe. The reponse to mine is always good when out and about- certainly stands out in the sea of grey and black plastic cars.

I think there is always a good response from folk when you are out and about in an Imp. I was using a friends Imp n the summer and I never failed to be asked questions about it or hear a story when I stopped anywhere. Brilliant. So been rubbing down the primer for the last time and fitting the doors to hopefully for the last time to make sure the swage lines line up. Cheers Col.

Quickrack, I am hoping it won't be to long away for the fitting up process too. No massive rush though.
Danaidh Thank you. Sure we will bump into each other at some point as hope to be using it a lot once i have it finished.

This evening it was time for splashing a bit of colour on the Imp as it has been sitting in primer for way to long. Here is the result. A bit, no a lot of wet sanding next then more colour, wet sanding before clear coat and a polish all going well. Cheers Col.

Thanks jonesy, Since I last updated this thread I have been busy rubbing down, repainting, rubbing down and clear coating all before refitting various parts the the car. Here are some photos. So it was a bit of clear coat then demask it eventually. This is it with the freshly painted wheels that weren't done the first time around. Then there was the fitting of some sound deadening as I expect it to be a noisy place to be otherwise. Then re-fit the heater before any dash goes in. This isn't an original heater but one from Car Builder Solutions. Fitting of the front radiator and sealing it up so the cool air goes through it. Then the new bonnet hinges and gaskets and front seal It all still needs a wet sand and polish but happy so far. Cheers Col.
