My mum has just blown her little peugeot 207 up as the turbo failed and she had the engine lock up, this is the second 207 shes destroyed as the previous one had a full rear end suspension failure, mainly as the road to the farm is what could be best described as a rally stage.
Ive told her she needs to have something a bit more suitable for rough terrain and the snow, as we regularly get a good few feet of the white stuff in the winter.
I have looked at a few options from of course landies to suzuki jimnys and the like, but does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable all year vehicle that mum could use, for a budget in the 2-3 grand mark?
Cheers Gaz

Kia Sportage? Gumtree shows half a dozen under three grand local to me, diesels too. No huge personal experience of them but I saw one being used quite seriously off road on a YouTube show (Dirt Every Day) so they must be decent off road. I drove one once when it was nearly new and it felt very car like. I've also driven Jimneys and the stuff like them and they're very un-car like.

Suzuki jimny. Still built quite tough, and actually really capable when turned towards the rough stuff. Cheap enough, but still hold that value well.

Daihatsu Terios or Panda 4x4 - both compact size similar to the 207 This! Your mum doesn't need a serious off roader she just needs something that can take a bit of a rough track. She'll still want something car like on the road. I would suggest one of the above or a Rav4.

Terios or first generation Rav4. We've had both as lease vehicles at work and I was quite impressed with them especially the Terios. It went pretty hard for what it was. Mechanic at the local Toyota garage bought the Terios off the lease company and is quite pleased with it too.

Don't have a Kia unless its dirt cheap and disposable, they like to spit gearboxes out.
How about a Subaru Forester or one of their older 4x4 estates
