Hey dude loving the Passat Glad your learning new skills I must have the other Passat estate B1 I'm the second owner from new, honest 1 lady owner from new with 44000 on the clock, was used as daily driver but only a few miles here and there. I just run it around, its no trailer queen, just keep it up together gets new things when it needs them sort of thing. paint looks great from 30 feet away as still in original paint. needs some love here and there I will get round to it some day. Loving your build and the love on the car. My car is known as poo car cause well its looks like a t**d in choc brown, was going to air ride it and add gold 15 bbs but got other projects so its never got there lol. Ah hey. Nice, I love the brown! Nothing like 70's colours to make your eyeballs twitch  44k is amazing tbh! I'm pretty much at the same stage now - new parts when it need it but otherwise, just the odd summer evening trip or weekend away now. You got a build threat or anything? Where you based roughly? |

No not got a build thread owned the car a few years now and yes put it on a sorn last year as was playing around with another build, now going for MOT, was trying to find parts, haha you know what that feels like with this car. tracking down hoses, hence how I found this thread. What was the pieces of the exhaust you knock together do you know what they were at all, as need new exhaust but might be able to weld as not that bad. what else MOT? headlight relay, heater matrix hoses, windscreen wipers,tyres they are pretty perished they are so old lol, CV boots, basically rubber stuff just getting old and didn't like sitting for a year. and its got a tiny hole to weld in rear sill, might plate for now but try and find a panel later to cut in properly as hate plating really. dash is cracked which is annoying, and the seats have just sort of disintegrated in the cloth from sun bleaching, would love to find original seat material is so naff its awesome. Could really do with some paint really as its really tired and blooms all the time so dulls like red cars. Also what did the other estate go for on eBay a while ago just out of interest? I'm hampshire way.. |

Hey just noticed you have the same seat coverings as me, i love them need to find someone who does original material lol.

Very little change to the car recently as got it running well. Also didn't bother coming out of hibernation last year given there were no events on, I was busy with work, and my partner had a baby too! So with that in mind, and a 7-month old in tow now, decided it was best to get a car seat fitted! Did a bit of searching and found some unused seat belt mounts.  Unfortunately not much use. Don't want to put actual seat belts in as this would require pulling out the trim which I know won't ever go back quite right. But, it did highlight (and doubled checked from underneath the car) that it's a particularly strong part of the car, with an actual section welded in to strengthen it for higher load and support. So, pop in a few holes in the correct area...  Test-fit a universal ISOFIX bracket purchased on the 'bay (reputable seller)  Make some additional loads-spreading brackets for the underside...  And click the car seat in!  I should also mention after years of looking, finally purchased some ATS classics (refurbed). They're in near perfect condition. Just need to work how to lower a few inches now...probably for next year as the rest of my cash is now destined for my imminent house purchase (with extended single garage).   |

Ah amazing, thank you, hadn't seen your previous comments. Those two metal parts with bushings in are crazy expensive, $180, when the bushings were probably only a few dollars :-( they also look like they come with the top 2X bushes as well (green circles), or do I probably need to order them too? Hi! I just replaced the gear linkage on my Passat LS - 76. It's the same as on yours. Took me a while since I thought that what was missing was the 823711281C bushings, which, as you know, are nowhere to be found. Ended up buying the whole left and right linkage arms, which come with upper and lower bushings. I also bought the two black protection sleeves (?). I thought I was gonna find out where the 823711281C bushings were fitted when I replaced the linkage, but there was nothing like it. So my question to you - are they suppose to fit underneath the black upper ones?! The gear linkage works fine now, but I am curious about these 823711281C bushings... Would be grateful for any feedback! |
