I can't think of a single motorsport event I've ever been to that hasn't stipulated on the ticket "No dogs allowed" If you consider the risk of animals running across the track, plus the noise, I don't think it's an unreasonable rule tbh. It's a car event. Not crufts ?

My first time at Retro Rides (2015) and well impressed even with the monsoons. It's such a breath of fresh air (exhaust contents excluded) to attend a venue where the atmosphere and attitudes are so laid back, where all types of vehicles, ideas/innovative designs and varying levels of skills are greatly appreciated and admired by all. For 2016 me and a few of my buddies have managed to secure our weekend tickets and are very much looking forward to another Gathering. All going well I'll get the chance to better my time up the hill! Yeah next time rather than walking it I'd like to drive it.

Would it be possible for RRG 2017 to be earlier in the year so the chances of better weather are increased?

It's the end of Summer as it starts to get wetter as we all evidenced this year. I should have explained it better but I meant in July or the start of August.

In fairness, last year's was the first really wet RRG in years.
Luckily, I aim to be there this year to keep the rain away.

I should have explained it better but I meant in July or the start of August. We don't get bad weather then? It's the UK - We get rain - first RRG I've been at that was proper wet and I've done every single one Dates are always driven by the venue avaliability

Small question from a first-time visitor: what's the general information about of the runs up the hill? In the other thread I read it wwas always 3 runs, which I'm totally down with. The cost though, is it much?... Also, when will there be more info about this aspect? Not looking for any specific details, just some guestimates concerning the price and the what about's of it Have a good christmas guys!

The cost though, is it much?... Also, when will there be more info about this aspect? Not looking for any specific details, just some guestimates concerning the price and the what about's of it 2015 Morning session was pre-booked 2 groups of 30 cars - both groups got 3 runs and the guest cars ran as often as they wanted price was £30 for whatever runs we got you (3 has never been guarunteed as one incident on the hill can take a while to sort out and we had one of those but still managed to get three runs for both groups) Afternoon was apply on the day and as a result of the weather we got 45 cars at the start (price again £30) and we kept the hill going until we got down to 5 cars when we threw the towel in and said enough - those last few cars had done 7 runs I think! It's not a money making exercise it's about giving people a chance to try a hill climb. I think I said elsewhere it's possible we will pre book both morning and afternoon for 2016 but we want to also do something that we've never been able to offer despite requests and that's single hill runs for people who just want to do one run on the day in whatever retro car they arrived in at whatever pace suits them

I can't really roll up in my standard Audi A4 so I've decided for the new year to set myself a challenge. Clear out anything I don't use that's lying around the house, garage and in the loft and see if it ads up to enough to buy a retro car for the gathering.

Working on a similar plan myself, looking like a £300 Maestro at the moment though! Having said that though I've got an A4 myself so we could set up a splinter show in a nearby field.

Bearing the Stigian question in mind, what are we allowed to take up the hill? Thinking of a cheap quick toy build as my Mazda is a long way off. Three wheels , noise and smoke ? Maybe something to challenge stigians time up the hill with something also garden based ?

If it's legally on the road (ie insured, MOT'd where a requirement for one exists) and has VED up to date (even if it's zero charged) is parked in club or retro parking (ie not a modern) arrives under it's own power (ie not trailered) then it's eligible to go up the hill

Would Stigian's project why not be eligible for a demonstration run? Projects featured in readers other modifications?

I'm guessing that they might not qualify in a few of the criteria We've done silly stuff in the past at Haynes for example but it was in the early days when it wasn't quite so big an event.... I believe there was an element of competition in this Followed by a lot of "rule bending" and shenanigans...... Not exactly sure what won!!! I do remember this being very quick I mean really really quick But unfortunately a bit unstable
