Looks a tidy repair piece made up! Do you plan to have the car out this year? I've got most of a 4 door mk1 Golf shell knocking about in various bits, so I was able to trim the repair piece I needed from that, I'm lacking the tools and skill set to fabricate anything too tricky so donor parts help. Ha! I planned to have the car out last year! If I'm realistic, then this year is a no go, since losing the lock-up progress has slowed... ...a lot! I would like to be able to at least get all the structural stuff done this year, but at the rate I'm going that is also highly unlikely. So who knows, it'll be what it will be. Nothing wrong with that! Certainly makes things easier and less time consuming! Ohh but yeah especially over winter not having the lock-up would have been a big show stopper... once it’s out it’ll all be worth it, and least you know you’ll have done it all right and not been rushing things!

Those short days are getting further away, happily, so hopefully you'll have more time to enjoy in better weather soon. You'll get there.

great to see you back at it. I was just lamenting the other day that I had not touched the truck bed repairs in months....so it sits comfy cozy in the garage while my daily driver suffers outside in the cold and snow...what gives there?
anyway, love this project..it will be worth it in the end. When I did my matching car trailer, (e36) I ended up restoring big sections of floor and sills....and I was just learning how to weld too...but once its turned right side up again...you will be very happy indeed!

Not any real updates i'm afraid... I did take a week off work with the intention of making some significant progress on this; ended up getting a Wednesday afternoon on it and that was it: Untitled The n/s front turret is pretty much shot. I have spent ages umming and erring about whether I could just patch them: Untitled But after trimming out the worst of the crispy bits I realised that the turret need to go. Time to get drastic: Untitled Untitled Big hole is slightly scary, but I literally have nothing to lose on this... Picking apart the donor panel cut from a crashed Jetta: Untitled (for the record, Stanley FatMax drill bits make excellent spot weld removal tools! Nice clean and flat cutting surface on them). Then the long winded process of fettling and aligning could begin: Untitled And that is as far as I have got before family duties got in the way of Jetta progress once again...

That's a pretty hefty repair by anyone's standards. Top stuff. Hah... literally... because it's a strut top. *gets coat*

Not at the moment, no. At some point in the not-too-distant future I'm hoping that there'll be a bit more to update though
