its obvious you seem to know what you want even if it doesnt exist, but id re-evaluate your classification of a 300zx as a sports car rather than a GT. id have them down as significantly more GT than a mk3 supra(especially the 2+2) which you seem to sort-of like. another one that i don't think has been mentioned would be a mitsubishi GTO/3000GT. again some would class as a sportscar but to me they're too lardy for that. Thanks but sorry. A 300ZX, 3000GT or any Porsche won't do. This case is closed. I would be first persuaded to go with a BMW 850i than a 928, 300ZX or 3000GT. By the way, the 3000GT did come up already in this thread. Several times actually. Please everybody. Stop beating the 300ZX, 3000GT, 928 and old 70's cars dead horse. It's just wasting bandwidth. I'm not going for any of them. There are several better fitting options in my list of rejects not to need to buy any of them. Thanks for the suggestions but it's time to let the dead horse rest.

Rude in what sense? You mean because somebody may suggest a BMW 8 and I just say, not my cup of tea, instead of going for something more like, "Hi, thanks for your wonderful suggestion. Not really bad but doesn't fit my criteria. But thanks for playing."? If people are taking time out to give you suggestions, it would be courteous to say thanks before saying why you don't want to go with that particular car yes.. The 2nd gen 3000GT is available with 'normal' lights if that helps? Fair enough. I apologize if it came across that way. I was just trying to be objective. With all the repeated suggestions even after they have been turned down and the size the thread has become I thought being straight to the point would help keep things more clear. Didn't mean to be rude. Yes, the non pop up look much better actually. But it is a fat Ferrari. Looks too much like a sports car but it's too big to be a real one. And I really dislike the style.

It is in the name. Look at the list at the bottom of the article, all the 'Sports cars' you've listed are grand tourers.

I guess if I had lots of money I would buy a 1989 Aston V8 with a ZF 5-speed manual and be done with it. But they go for close to 100K. Perfectly reliable though, absolutely no problems with them whatsoever. They look great. But can't stretch for that yet.

Paul, thanks but it's not happening. There are at least 10 or 12 70's cars I would choose before the Buick even if I decided to get a 70's car. Thanks anyway.

They may be GTs in some's eyes but they don't fit my needs. Thanks for suggesting and moving on...

Its just twigged in my mind, you want a Ferrari 400 Adam, are you pulling my leg now or being sarcastic? Not quite sure. I would take the 850i over that even if I had to pay for the BMW and would get that for free. Pop-ups! Boxy. Where is the muscle? The 400 has also been suggested before. So far, from my rejects list, in order of what I would get if I don't find something: Tied up on top: XK8 with manual conversion, XJS with manual conversion. If I could shake off the woes of unreliability. 2.Mustang/Challenger. 3. BMW 850i and just live with the flat canoe but seemly very capable car. 4. Maserati. Edit: Is that 400 leaking oil? I hope that is not from a for sale add.

That's pretty much the definition of a GT car without using the words gran/grand or tourer....... I think you need to look at this another way. It obvious nothing comes close to what you're after, so build it. Either by rebodying something like a soarer, or putting a better interior into one if the options that is mechanically correct.

Thanks but no 3000 GT. Never liked it. It is heavy, fat and yes, it's the definition of a GT. But if I will have a fat car I want Jaguar, Aston or Bentley level of interior. Not Honda Civic-ish. Not speaking of leather only here. And I really, really dislike the exterior. Between the 3000GT and 300ZX I would go for the 300ZX.

gonna have to face it I think, GT's are just that Gran TOURER's, they are built for old rich people who want to go quick in luxury on straight roads, they don't have manual gearboxes and they really aren't all that fun to drive on twisty roads. Your not gonna find what your looking for, you'll have to build it yourself if you really want it.

You can't get any more GT than a 2 door, front engine Ferrari with a V12. End of.
