My next project is a Reliant Scimitar SE5, got it for a good price (Free) which is always a price I like to pay!
The reason for it being free is that it’s an awful nasty looking example and no one wants to give any money for it yes it’s a real shitter!
Perfect for a Rat Rod build! Always fancied having a Scimitar so now I have one, looking forward to getting stuck in, and it’s going to be a shocker and slammed!
The nastier looking the better! The wife’s not keen on it and she’s not even seen it yet! So a few nights sleeping on the sofa will be all for a good cause I hope?
In my defense its tax exempt so running cost are going to be buttons.
I also want to keep in the theme of cheap, free, and low cost so nothing expensive or shiny is going on it.
Banded steels, and really, really low, may even do an air ride install but again its all going to be built with crude junk, big chunky manual hand operated air valves, and big old air compressor driven off a motor pulley.
The "Scimitar" script on the rear is going to be re-badged to read "T h e S h i t t e r" so if any one knows of similar fonts used on other cars as used by Reliant?

Curious - bookmarked!
I do know a man who does signage who has the font - he's done a couple of sets of chrome vinyl ones (I have a few sets spare). Speedy555 on scimitarweb.com or SSG Classics on Facebook.

... The wife’s not keen on it and she’s not even seen it yet! ... Just like us! This does sound interesting, but you should really add some pics - even showing the present state. will do put I don`t even have it yet! had to get some wheels today so I can move it, should have it home on monday and will update the build as and when bits get done. Pics will be added but progress will be slow for a while as I am still tinkering with the Esprit.

Meet the Shitter……… Now you can see why it was free Any one know what plugs into the two plugs arrowed red? I have connected a battery but have no life at the dash board? And the starter won’t crank over every thing is dead? I have power at the ignition switch? Just wondered if some of the loom was missing from the plugs?

Those plugs look too new for the age of the car, so maybe their for an alarm or immobiliser?

They're standard. They just connect different parts of the loom together. Those two probably connect to the loom that runs down the chassis turret and down the NS chassis rail I'm looking forward to this progressing as Scimitars are difficult to get low without cutting channels in the outriggers for the exhausts and changing cross members and gearbox mounts. I've been looking into air suspension on mine, it's just the limited space due to the upper wishbones and probably the axle

Use that photoshop as a guide, just don't spend too long building an extra storey on the houses opposite Hah I didn't notice that! Instead of changing the name on the back, why not marker pen in an 'h' like posted above so you have schitmar?

I love the look of it. When I look at it though I don't think 'slam it', I think you should stick some seriously fat rubber on the rear end and go gasser style with it... raised up (basically, keep it as it stands currently) with big gaps in the front arches (and thinner tires up front), and fill the rear arches with race rubber.
