Lol, nice one. Some folk make you wonder how they co-ordinate enough to be able to breathe Love the fact that you put it back to how it was but if he realises you've used it - you know he'll be moaning at you saying what have you done to the welder it was fine Friday!

At least my days of fixing welders before use are nearly over. As for raising the bar like Yoeddynz and bastardchild said, about giving theirs a lick of paint. I won't raise the bar on paintwork. Off to strip it down and send it to the powdercoaters....hahaha I expected nothing less than powder coating, trouble is how are you going to do one half green and the other half red so the tiers are welder co-ordinated?

^^ If you mix green and red often enough you get black ;-)

You can really go off some people. i'm struggling to sort this out ...... ( oh and i'm on I-Pad, seems to upload ok for me?) Looks like you are winning though! iPad issues uploading photos only comes about since the second last firmware update. Apple is great and fixing one thing and stuffing up a dozen others! Don't know if the size of the photos are too large. Shouldn't be as they are taken on an iPhone and never had issues before. Never needed to resize

Trolley looks excellent! (Did we really expect anything less?!) - much better than an off the shelf job by some margin.

So ,stripped the trolley down and it's gone for powdercoating Back onto the pullmax/ Shopdog/Reciprocating hammer build. Been spending my lunchtimes trying to figure out how far I had got. Always a problem when you don't do something in one go. Think I know where I was a couple of months back. Pulled the electromagnetic clutch out for a look see Good thing I did,as it turns out the coil has lost all its magic smoke. So,looking for another clutch. Think the ones used on ride on mowers might be more suitable. Should be a bit beefier, and handle more torque. Think I need to go pay Stigian a visit for some advice.....

Can you run any voltage, I only ask as I think We are changing some 300mm Holding brakes in the next few days, they are considered a service item, so normally there is plenty of life left in them,

I have a single phase supply running a 180v DC motor driver. 12v or 24v DC not a problem either, just dependant on amperage draw. 300mm might be getting on the big side, but possibly adaptable

Stopped off at the Why Not lair to see Stigian on the way home. Me,being the master of timing,(almost always bad),meant that him and Nigel had left literally seconds before ,on their way to tractor fest. All was not lost though,as I met Nigel's son,Karl. He very kindly organised me a clutch on the understanding that if I use it,a round is due. Fair play. So, getting it home shows it's a bit bigger than the aircon clutch, which is good Stripping it shows this, that it's been wet and a bit rusty. Not the end of the world. Bearings are siezed from the water, also not good So long as the coil isn't burnt out,I can make use of it. It works the wrong way round for my application in that when it disengages,it stops the pulley to stop the blades in the mower deck turning. Because the way I want to install it,is the other way round,it means it would disengage the shaft, which is good, but at the same time try and stop the pulley, which isn't good. But,with a new pulley to allow me to run a micro vee belt, new bearings and a different method of adjustment,I think it will be perfect.....

Hi Johnny, just been catching up with your thread, it's a shame about the grinder after all the work you have put into it, at least it's gone to a good home and given you a few ££'s to spend on a welder. Speaking of welders that's amazing work just for a welding trolley, way better than my attempt a few years ago.. It's a shame you missed me yesterday, of all the day's you could of picked! lol.. We must of passed each other just up the road from my workshop.. As you have mentioned Tractorfest here's a little plug for the show (please delete Mod's if it breaks any rules) Tractorfest Show, KentNigel's son Karl is a helpful chap, I hope the mower clutch works out for you.. I look forward to catching up with you during the week.. Cheers Ian.

Johnny, If you need another clutch I have a very similar one - minus the rust and water - in my shed. Will go and dig it out, you are welcome to it if it progresses the build. Let me know. P.

Thanks for the offer Paul, I really appreciate it. I am having a little play with this one at the moment. If I do succeed in stuffing it up totally, I might take you up on the offer. So far so good, but early days still. More than enough time for me to muller it totally !

Decided to help the bearing out the aircon compressor clutch These are about all the bits I am going to Bravo together Start of a cunning plan. Having tested the coil ,that doesn't have a short circuit and does exhibit some electrical resistance,I decided it most probably would work. So into the lathe for a bit of a mod Clutch plate hub also given a talking to. It went to pieces Put the side plate back into the mill. Drilled and tapped some mounting holes and machined out a pocket to clear the coil wires and get the coil to sit flat. Made an insert to locate the coil on the side plate and to house the bearing. This still needs to be finished. Need to drill the mounting holes into it.
