Lock stays? Turn through 180 degrees one way and they lock a gas bottle or welder in place, turn 180 the other and you can lift said item out?

Holy poo. You certainly don't do things by halves do ya. I am now looking at my welding trolley/table with its welded together furniture tube and thinking it aint that flash. I might have to at least paint it now.

Set this lot up first for welding That's where the fun started. Usual story at work that you need to fix a welder before doing a job. The mind boggles as to how that department runs, and the mentality of some of the people in it. A mig welder should sing when properly set up. Like a v12. This was singing alright. It was after all Sunday,so maybe fitting that it was singing a hymn. Fark hymn....300A welder turned up to 9 out of a possible 12,and it pops and farts and barely melts a1.6mm wall tube. Surely the guy using it on Friday might have thought something is wrong? Quick look at the earth showed this Wasn't in the mood to fix it. So plan B to get it to work for me was implemented. Changed back to how it was after I finished,as operator obviously likes his set up...

That was plan B. Turned welder back down to 5 and its purring like aV12 again, not like it was earlier where it sounded like half the plugs were missing.

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

At least my days of fixing welders before use are nearly over. As for raising the bar like Yoeddynz and bastardchild said, about giving theirs a lick of paint. I won't raise the bar on paintwork. Off to strip it down and send it to the powdercoaters....hahaha

I worked at a place with may welding sets , about 30 all in , and you might be in a different place every shift . Most always had burnt out earths from lazy buggers .
The best i found was one with a cable with a diameter of 20mm or so shoved in a earth clamp which had a internal diameter of about 30mm . The grub screw obviously would not hold that in so some bright spark had made up the diameter difference by wrapped it in 3M aluminium tape !!!!!!
The thickest of some people knows no limit , especially if they think they can just get through the shift and some other curse word would fix it ! I spent 25 minutes most days filling up water coolers , changing cracked ceramics , pulling out stuck tungstens , swapping dead machings , earth cables , clamps etc .
Do noy underestimate stoopid and lazy ! The best i found was a chap bending welding wire into a weld prep then welding over it !!!
COWBOYS !!!!
