I've had 3 Mk1 mx5s and they all dripped there, some would only drop once (normally the first time I hit the brakes), others would drip fairly frequently. I think it's partly down to the door seal design and partly that the seals all being 25+ years old. I'd also heard about rubbing a bit of vaseline along the seals, and did find it helped a bit. Again like Kevins said above, it did depend also o the angle the car was parked and the angle the rain was coming in at. Mk1 Mx5s are just such great fun to drive. No matter how boring the journey might be, you only need one corner to chuck the mx5 at and the smile it puts on your face makes up for everything.

First track day booked for November!
Yes there is a year between those posts! It was cancelled due to some global pandemic-type issue (I forget which one).
But we're back to it in a couple of weeks - another MOT under its belt in the meantime.

Anyone know how strict the Oulton Park dB noise level tests are? I know it's 102 static and 95 drive by. Managed to replicate the static (5250 rpm) and came in at about 90 so that's cool but the drive by was 102. Not sure how close the mics are but I was by the side of the road and I'd imagine it'll be there or thereabouts. Do they have any clamp on silencers or anything at the track? I've already fitted and killer to it! Really worried we're gonna get kicked out after waiting so long for it

Keep an eye on my YouTube channel - it's called Rusted Pistons and I'm enjoying expanding the horizons of my hobby a little. Currently planning out videos on the Capri, MX5 and Smart Roadster.
I'm aiming to have entertaining, stylistic videos of the cars and some 'how to' content alongside general build stuff and ride alongs. Any racing I do will be up there, too. The link should be in my profile but you can get to my channel from the video above Thanks so much to anyone who has shown an interest so far βΊοΈπ

Going to book the next track day - can't choose between Oulton Park our Anglesey... Has anyone driven both?

Re-insured the Mazda and I've been using it for a few weeks - XJ40 not starting at the moment and the Capri had a spectacularly failed wheel bearing incident. www.instagram.com/reel/C3QwmuuIy89/?igsh=dTFiZHF5MG9uaXc1Track day in 2 weeks! Going back to oulton park Need to address a couple of things before we go: Oil change - seems to use a little oil so need to factor that in to hammering it all day at the track when choosing viscosity Green stuff pads were useless last time and faded after 3 corners. Spent the rest of the day with spongy underperforming brakes. Going to upgrade to yellow stuff unless there are any cheaper alternatives that'll do a good job. Mot highlighted that the brake lines aren't the best so I think I'll renew them all Finally, the alternator belt sounds awful under load. If I have the lights on and the heater at the same time it screeches like mad even though it's the correct tightness. It snapped a belt less than 1000 miles ago and there was a big pile of rubber dust on the bracket - it's leading me to think maybe the pulley is stiff? I have a spare mx5 alternator so I may do that, too. Finally - I'm not sure the idle is quite right. It doesn't seem to be raising at all with electrical load one it's warm Sometimes it's idling below 400rpm So a few things to tinker with next weekend before the track day the weekend after!

Well the track day was awesome! 3 tanks of fuel and we absolutely battered it all day then drove it home Here's the video if you're interested: Just got some Tein coilovers for it from a mate so they'll be going on over winter. There's an issue with the headlights but I've got a pair of upgraded lights to go on so I'll re wire them when I do that. Also, the belt squeals when it's under electrical load even though it's a new belt and has the right tension - I think it may be a pulley issue so that needs a fiddle. One of the window weather seals has ripped so I'll be replacing that and then I'll need to wire brush the underside and get it protected. Oh - exhaust is blowing a bit. Just a few things then Looking forward to working on it. If you enjoy the video please subscribe - it means a lot to me!
