1992 Eunos Roadster track project - Track day pics and video

First track day booked for November!

Anyone know how strict the Oulton Park dB noise level tests are? I know it's 102 static and 95 drive by. Managed to replicate the static (5250 rpm) and came in at about 90 so that's cool but the drive by was 102. Not sure how close the mics are but I was by the side of the road and I'd imagine it'll be there or thereabouts. Do they have any clamp on silencers or anything at the track? I've already fitted and killer to it! Really worried we're gonna get kicked out after waiting so long for it

Better late than never! The Trackday was a huge success and so much fun! Can't wait for the next one.

The car performed faultlessly although the brakes faded quite quickly. They didn't get any worse throughout the day though. We went out so many times we used a full tank of fuel. We were worried about the noise but sailed through using a bung that we made. It hurt the performance a bit, though. Could do with making it easily removable so we can trial it with it removed next time and see if it's quicker.


We found that we could catch cars on the corners and they'd indicate to let us past but it didn't have the performance to pull past them on the straights 😂

I think the only thing we need to change is the disks before next time - some drilled, grooved, vented disks should do the trick I reckon. A supercharger would be nice for the straights, though 😂

Re-insured the Mazda and I've been using it for a few weeks - XJ40 not starting at the moment and the Capri had a spectacularly failed wheel bearing incident.

Track day in 2 weeks! Going back to oulton park

Need to address a couple of things before we go:

Oil change - seems to use a little oil so need to factor that in to hammering it all day at the track when choosing viscosity

Green stuff pads were useless last time and faded after 3 corners. Spent the rest of the day with spongy underperforming brakes. Going to upgrade to yellow stuff unless there are any cheaper alternatives that'll do a good job.

Mot highlighted that the brake lines aren't the best so I think I'll renew them all

Finally, the alternator belt sounds awful under load. If I have the lights on and the heater at the same time it screeches like mad even though it's the correct tightness. It snapped a belt less than 1000 miles ago and there was a big pile of rubber dust on the bracket - it's leading me to think maybe the pulley is stiff? I have a spare mx5 alternator so I may do that, too.

Finally - I'm not sure the idle is quite right. It doesn't seem to be raising at all with electrical load one it's warm Sometimes it's idling below 400rpm

So a few things to tinker with next weekend before the track day the weekend after!
