Fishing out the side repeater cables. Success Attempting to make the interior more tester-friendly... Mop the standing water and vac over the welding burns on the seats... Coolant sorted, cage bolted down, seats bolted down, window tied up with wire, tyre pumped up. And, bar the front plate that's yet to arrive, this is as much as I'm doing before the test. Getting taken tomorrow. Fingers crossed

Front plate on, fueled up, going to the mot man tomorrow. Hoping it doesn't need too much - spotted a few cracks in the front brake flexis so that could be one of the issues. Fingers crossed, I'll check in with the results.

I've just checked the database and found that it failed on 8 counts but 4 of them link to the handbrake, 2 to the fog light (which works - they just didn't find the button) and the sidelight. Oh, and it says 'emissions not tested' but I don't know why that'd be? Idle too high? Seems to idle around 1100rpm. Not too bad overall in my book.

The rear brake calipers seize up all too often especially if it's not used regularly, if you can get them apart (will require brute force) a clean up with emery and light greasing (they seem to be dry originally) does the trick.

I had that with mine, rear brakes, slide pins seize a bit of brute force and copper slip works wonders. Also one of the internal adjusters (in the caliper) for the handbrake mechanism seized.
If the revs aren't falling then an Italian tune-up fixed it for me, they're still a bit slow to fall to idle. Or it could be the Idle Control Valve, costly for a new one.
Yes I had to sort out a few things to get it through the last MOT, have a glance through my thread.

I'll have a check of your thread now. Unfortunately, they weren't siezed - it seems the threaded part was just totally worn out. A 2 month building job on the house took more like a year and the car was sat on our lawn the whole time - I do wonder if it contributed to the brakes being curse word. Rear discs are shot too. Wiring to the sidelight has rotted but I think it'll be re-mot time tomorrow.

First drive in over 5 years - complete! Fuel stop It was a lot of fun. Weird experience driving a car on the road in racing harnesses! Thoughts : Sounds great! Brake pedal a bit soft - hopefully just a bit of a bleed needed. Grips like crazy! Feels like a little go kart. The seat and belt arrangement is gonna take some getting used to! It's extremely noisy inside being completely stripped out. I was gonna pop the speakers back in for a bit of radio when commuting but I feel it would be pointless 😂 Can't wait to drive it again tomorrow to pick up Melted cheese 😎

Brakes feeling better already - presume the green stuff pads that we fitted over a year ago and never used were glazed over. I fitted the same to the Capri and they felt curse word at first too.

I found that too, you really need to put the boot in to bed them in properly, but once you do they're pretty amazing

Yeah they're spot on now. Got a slightly sticky left front caliper and the right front wheel locks on very heavy braking so there's still some brake investigating to do

Yeah harness on the road is a bit of a no-no, I'm resigned to having to swap in the 'race' seat for track days.
I fitted green stuff pads and bedded them in doing a tack day at Thruxton (well and the drive there). They work well but my pedal is a bit soft, need to bleed the brakes again. Did have to do an emergency stop recently and locked both front wheels.

Yeah it's actually doing my head in! Seeing at awkward junctions and reversing is a pain in the fox!
Having sticking caliper issues : front left slightly and occasionally rear right (brand new caliper!) so tight it smokes and feels sluggish! When I back off the throttle it slows down as if I'm braking fairly hard. Left it stuck on over night expecting the worst on my commute and it's now fine?!
Can't really chop and change seats very easily as we've made custom subframes to fit the buckets. And I binned the seat belts as they were sitting in the pool of water that is the boot for a year and a half

I have a leak in the cabin (boot, too but that's a different story). It drips here : Used to years ago when it was last in the road. Doesn't do it on the other side. Any clues why?

Ours leaks if its parked on the road facing slightly uphill and down on the kerbside, if i put it on the drive which is pretty much level it is ok.
One thing which does help is to rub vaseline into the seals.
