Quite a rare model. I’ve got one which you can have for free if you want it, it’s not in bad shape at all, but the only catch is it’s currently without an engine! WHat colour is it, and what interior does it have, i could be very tempted as i have a vitesse turbo engine in the garage! It's Kingfisher Blue I believe it is called. Interior-wise it's got leather front semi-bucket seats from (I think) the previous shape 200 Coupe, but I'm sure standard interiors are ten a penny for those if required. The body is solid, the only grotty bit is the rear arch on the one side, but the other side has survived virtually unscathed. I bought it with the same Turbo engine fitted, that was all I bought it for to take out for my Montego. There's a BNIB radiator for turbo conversion in the boot (exact engine depending) and other spares. I drove it here when I bought it as it was still MOT'd. It has been parked outside mainly since, but still seems ok on the whole. As a rare model and an early "bubble" that's solid overall as far as I know it would be nice to see it live on, but it's not really worth anything in its current state unless it was broken for spares (something I don't have the time or space for with all other projects currently on the go!)

Ok, I’m interested. Let me have a think. Would there be any time pressure for me to move it?

10 years back i was buying and selling cars big time. These as well as the 400s just sold instantly, i've lost count how many i dealt with but i had one of these Kingfisher Blue versions with 20,000 miles from new that stayed with me for 3 days!!! Bubbles versions were sooo popular and Kingfisher and Nightfire Red versions i couldn't get enough of. To this day i have a lot of time for the Rover marque as regardless of what some think (unreliable engines blah blah blah) i know these can be decent cars that are pretty well put together.

I’d forgotten about this one! You going to eventually get it back on the road?

I’d forgotten about this one! You going to eventually get it back on the road? It’s one of those car that I don’t know what to do with. Honest answer is I have no idea! I keep think of selling/breaking it, but some of the bits on it are super rare and I wouldn’t be able to find again.

I’d love to say let me know if you decide to sell it, but realistically I have no space, time or money for another project 😂

Thread resurrection! No proper update yet, but today i collected this lump..... Yes thats right, a turbo v8 with a cosworth t5 gearbox! I'm super busy with work so it might be a while until its in, plus I'm undecided whether to do a full belts and braces rebuild and mega squirt or just slap it in, power it up and have some fun.

Ive been poking this the last couple of evenings, just trying to work out how the loom works. Its a weird one. It looks like the Zytek ecu also does the spark. Basically the distributor has had the vacuum advance unit taken off the side of it, then there are three wires coming out of it going to an aftermarket plug which connects to the Zytek ecu loom. There is no crank position sensor either. So i think the ecu gets its timing information from the dizzy and then it fires the coil and injectors based on what ever info it gets back. In terms of external sensors all it seems to use is air temp in, coolant temp, and a pressure sensor which is gobbed onto the side of the ecu using a glue gun!!!!!
I haven a clue where some of the dizzy and coil wires go. There is still a plug on the loom with 10 pins which originally would have gone to the resistor pack to drop the 12v down to 3v for the injectors, but the guy i got the engine off says it didnt have the resistor pack fitted, so maybe the ecu does that too? All very confusing at the moment. I need to strip the loom and do my own wiring diagram.
All the starter and alternator loom is missing so ill have to make one.

Haha fascinating. Are you planning on using the Zytek ECU or going for a more modern standalone?
