Hiya I'm looking at getting a Retro/ Classic car to modify does any one have any idea of a good car to start with? I'm very handy with my hands as i am a qualified Mechanic so fixing the car is not a problem also the car must be cheap to insure as I'm 17 approaching 18 i know there isn't any cheap cars to insure at this age but something that isn'tgoing cost like 5 grand would be nice. Cheers Alex

Some good suggestions there.... I would suggest K10 or early K11 Micra.. Cheap as chips to buy, insure and run, can look achingly cool with the right mods. I would also consider the early FWD Toyota Starlet... Bit more work to look good, but absolutely bulletproof and good fun to drive...

Not that I'm biased or anything for having had three of them, but R5's (and that one specifically) are very good. Cheap to buy, run, insure and modify. Lots of potential too. Same goes for 205's, K10 Micra's, etc. etc.
