"What car do you drive" "Ford Galaxie" In my head: In reality: Others: Ford Maverick: Ford Capri: Chevy Nova: Chavy Nova: Are they running out of names? Are modern cars getting worse? Is it shameless marketing techniques? Are there any better examples? Discuss! (Excuse the Ford/Yank car bias, and shameless excuse for showing off my own car )

All the obvious ones are those manufacturers who have reused previous names. VW Beetle for example In my head: In reality: (Although I actually quite like those new ones).

The Nova was the Corsa in Europe as in Spanish 'no va' translates as 'doesn't go'.
Better still the Pajero translated as 'c0ck'. Imagine picking up the Vicar in a Mitsubishi C0ck. I believe it was resolved by a subtle change to Pajaro.

I can't confirm it's 100% true but it's a good story.

It's a shame Ford dropped their tradition of naming cars after skin mags, the Ford Razzle beats the Ford Focus anyday.

I'd heard this as a rumour, so I checked it out in an English-Spanish dictionary, which confirmed that it actually does translate as an onanist!
