don't know if this has been posted before but... I watch wheeler dealers with Mike and Ed whenever its on. Even though ive seen them before i still have to watch them every single time. Is it me or is it all a fix? They rarely seem to come accross major problems when finding a car that just happens to be under a tarp, or sitting in a garden shed etc. And when Ed takes the cars apart, why doesnt he get the bolts that don't shift? One squirt of WD40 (which i read on the must haves thread isnt a penetrating fluid) and off they come. They seem to pick up a car thats been sitting unloved for eleventy-three years, change the brakes, give it a mini service, trowel in the wag, spray it and its away!!! I like Mike Brewer, i think his knowledge of cars is of a very high level. And Ed China is a damn good spanner monkey. Just looks to "set up" to me......

I happened to catch the Porsche 928 one the other day. I was in hysterics when that monkey Brewer said the BBS RS wheels looked dated and didnt suit the car and did a straight swap for some Teledials... losing potentially hundreds of pounds in the process!!
I get the feeling with Brewer that he knows a little bit about a lot, but Ed China on the other hand strikes me as a proffesional and an enthusiast who really does know his stuff.

Mike Brewer: "Wow, it just revs and revs" (bounces off rev limiter for 5th time)

brewers knowledge only extends to what the researchers tell him (even then not correctly)
had to laff at bbs 928 episode the 928 fella couldnt keep his face straight nearly bbs worth 3 times what teledial are someone has said (correct me if i is wrong)

I remember the episode with the 205 GTI... aparently fixing gear linkages will cure white smoke puffing out the exhaust!
Fun program though.

thread jacking a bit here ...what about scrapyard challenge ,or whatever its called ? Do they really only have that short time to do all that / have they built one as atrial b4 doing the filmed one? Seem like too many ideas that always work 1st time to me ! also the teams never look particularly knackered after all that work ..I know Id be absolutely B*****xed after a couple of days hard graft! All seems too sugary to me !

Yeah, i noticed that I always wondered how the smoke suddenly righted itself. Spazdaguy, You know ed do you? I had the impression he was a decent, clever bloke. I am wrong there too then??? Oh gawd, i really don't have a good judge of character do i? hehehe... ;D ;D

yeh its fixed alrite. in regard to the 205 episode, the car they bought wasnt quite as they claimed they found it.
they said they got something like £3k for it - they can say what they like as the selling part at the end was totally fixed. the car was "bought" by one of the crew members on the program, not a genuine buyer like they made out, all an act.
if mike brewer was really selling you a car and telling you all the sales tripe, you would surely tell him to curse word off, not gve him double the value!
i heard this only last week from my mate that is hugely into the 205gti scene and knows some of the people involved in that episode.
the whole white smoke caused by a worn gear linkage.... hmmm says it all really.
i recon scrapheap has the aeroplane engines and old hovercrafts planted in its scap yard.

I was browsing the bay when i decided id try looking for a cheap 'vette. Low and behold i came accross the actual car that was on the programme. And this was the first showing of that series!!! I could bid on a car that Mike had just sold on the TV!!! I sent the bloke a message and asked why he had the Corvette, and after looking at his other items, the green 911, the red 635 and another that i cant remember right now. He replied that buyers have to agree to wait until the end of the series before the cars were released to the new owners. Some got tired of waiting and backed out hence the cars on ebay?!?!!?

If "buyer of the week" is anything to go by, these programmes are a fix. "buyer of the week" (never heard of it, havent got a freeview box) phoned me and asked to borrow a Corsa from me, then they phoned up again and asked for the Saxo Diesel I had instead, it hadnt sold by the time they wanted to film it, and I`d been driving it around with the dog in the back and they told me it would get a really good valet so I had it dropped off at their studio, the female contestant apparently "bought" it on TV, I was told she`d be in touch but that was the last I ever heard of the whole thing, pretty much as I`d expected but I gave it a whirl as things were quiet at the time.

It probably doesnt exist, or it`ll be on at 4 in the morning on an obscure channel that no-one ever watches. The whole thing was a bit of a waste of time and the Saxo still had white dog hairs all over the back seat when it came back. They`d got the tar spots off the door bottoms, though. The £50 fee I was promised amazingly never materialised.

Maybe it was a particularly complex scam where someone just needed to lend a car for the day?

Oh yeah, that was "Used Car Roadshow" wasn't it? There was one where she said the Daihatsu Cuore TR-XX Avanzato R4 was a real "luxury cruiser" or something inside. It isn't.
