another niggle with wheeler dealers, when they restore the mini..they say the 'a' panel cost £45...it didn't.
they're like £7
also, whilst i'm moaning about wheeler dealers, some of the 'buyers' on there also happen to be terrible actors...strange.

Thats it, "the used car roadshow!".
don't know what they`d have done if none of the 3 cars had shown up, it was so tempting to just think "f*ck it".
"The used car No-show"
The Cuore was probably on loan from Stumpcross Daihatsu or something, and she`d have been told to big it up, so instead of extolling virtues that it had she just made up ones that it didnt.
Did they really restore the Mini? Or was it a smoke and mirror restoration? I`ve seen a car that was supposedly restored for a magazine and it is just a pile of scrap metal that`s had a vat of water based blown up in its general direction or something, it doesnt run and the paintwork is horrendous, just new bits in the interior here and there, the camera hides a million sins.

I have been watching all of the old Wheeler Dealers on youtube and you are right some funny things do happen. Two things that stuck out for me are that if you watch the VW beetle episode when they buy an old beetle and turn it into a beach buggy, the car they "sell" at the end of the show has a different reg number to one you see Ed working on throughout the show. And on the Suzuki SJ410 one in the final episode it fails it's MOT on welding and they have to sell it as an off-road only toy, surely they would have noticed it needed welding when they were putting in the roll cage or changing the axles for SPOA ones. It is a dodgy show but still pretty entertaing though

It's a decent programme, but i love it just to laugh at the idiot known as Mike Brewer, used car expert? My , you wouldn't let him sell you shopping at Tesco.

Quite... any 'used car dealer' worth anything would know all the common rust holes in a 410, there's a reason that 80% of the ones on ebay are "off road use only!". Even if the grinning chump didn't check it out properly before purchase, like you said he should have noticed whilst working on it. You don't take a car for an MoT without having a quick squint over it for stuff like, i dunno, ruddy great holes. Exactly. It's OK to watch and a zillion times better than EastEmmerdaleStreetOaks or whatever the wife most likely wants on, but I can't say I pick up too many tips off him

Can someone tell me why Mike's such an idiot? I am one of these people who take others at face value. Ive never met him or Ed so i cant judge them in any way. I dare say that they are told what to do/not to do and say/not say to a certain degree. But i could never judfe anyone just from the tv programme. Not trying to start a feud here, i just like to see the good side of people. (Until they p*ss me off, then look out!!!) :-)

I liked the 911 Wheeler Dealers. Mike Pooer was talking to 'an owner'
Mike: "So what special things do you have to look for when you're buying one of these (a 70's 911), then?
911 Owner: "Well mainly the obvious things, like checking the oil filler cap for white stuff, to make sure the head gasket hasn't gone"

So if theres no mayo on the filler cap of a `70s 911 then its good to go? As though youre buying fifty quids worth of Volvo 460! Everyone knows if youre buying one of these you need to at least check the tyre pressures and get someone to stand behind the car and tell you if the brake lights are working! ;D

2 years ago i was at the retro cars show when the used car road show was filming there.Whilst walking around the show i could hear what i thought was my reg number being called out for my pug HDi.I had only just bought it the week before so was'nt sure if i heard right,so just ignored it.Until i was walking past one of the big speakers and heard it again,at this point i ran to my car thinking some one had pranged it, nicked it or worse. It was still there and ok so i went to the main tent thingy and asked what was going on.This bloke asked me if i wanted to earn £150 if they could use my car for the program as one of the dealers who was supposed to turn up did'nt.So i said ok .All day me and my two mates were treated to good food and cold drinks while they filmed it as if it was for sale, then some moron goes to move it around reving the nuts of it >:(As the day went on we got bored of waiting and wanted to go but kept getting told "just 10 more minutes" We did'nt leave till gone 7 without so much as thanks or the cash so yes i would say that most of these shows are set up.

Does anyone remember Deal On Wheels that used to be on Channel 4 around the late 90's. It featured Brewer and some lanky dude who I think was a magazine journlist.
That was actually a good program and dealt with a good deal of retro rides. It was more about the general sell of secondhand cars, and show the real life actions of people selling there motors. I remember a episode when they filmed a man trying to shift a Skoda Rapid of some sort. He had a about 10 others in his front garden.
Anyone remember it?
I think they were showing re runs not so long ago.

Deals on Wheels is repeated constantly on Discovery on Sky dude. Some are the early ch4 ones, some are later ones which feature Mike spouting curse word under the guise of helping morons sell their cars.

!Shock! !Horror! Not everything on TV is true? ? I have heard some stories but cannot remamber the souces regarding some of these shows like Scrapheap challenge, Panic Mechanics and so forth. I shall't repeat them as I wasn't there but basically BS. Recent magazine article in Hot Rod, about a car built on "American Hot Rod", and basically they said all the stuff was just done for show. "hey guys, can you all gather roubnd about 3 pm so we can have a spontanious arguement and have the fat guy storm out in a huff...

ishan I know the one you're talking about. I have it on tape somewhere. The guy selling the Rapid was called Rob and was a true Skoda nutter. He had wrote down every registration of Skoda's he had seen, and he was in the process of writing a book and he had loads of interesting stuff. He sold it to a traveller like Norfolk farmer. Gorgeous car too. I've never seen the car or heard of either of the men in the episode. Can you get VHS footage onto a computer?

China is a local bloke to me, and I'm going to bite my tongue before I say very rude things. I know of Edd too, through a mate, and he's a prize male chicken! My mate Adrian bought this of Ed 2 or possibly 3 maybe even 4 years ago Now bearing in mind we had to collect from his gaff way down south and we are in Norfolk we would have been mighty curse word off if we travelled all the way down with range rover and trailer and the car wasn't as described. It was described exactly as it was - honestly and comprehensively - we met Ed as agreed and he was a nice guy and the deal was happily done. Just thought I'd apply a bit of balance to the above comments He's done some pretty wacky promo stuff over the years
