And with that, the new project ! Bought a 1934 Ford pick up in the states. Havent seen it my self only on pictures. At the moment its waiting in port to get in a container and begin its long journey to the netherlands. Its a traditional styled rod with a Merc flathead. Going to make it my own car and the first plans are to put wood planking in the bed (palm wood) and to put a period correct supercharger on it. The well known 4-71 from a detroit diesel engine. Here are some pictures of it

That is rather lovely.
Does not look like it needs much, but putting your own stamp on it is so much better and rewarding.

Indeed, just some changes to make it my own car rather than someone else's build !

LOVE that pic. A slammed C-10, a hotrod, and a huge pick-up dragging a few tons worth of trailer. So cool that grey econobox apparently decided its life was superfluous. I'll follow the shipping and customs tribulations closely, good luck with it all! Bookmarked

That's not traditional with tyres like that i was gunna say the first thing it needs is them radials in the bin and a set of crossplies!

that C-10 and your ford are amazeballs. I'm glad the econobox decided that it wasn't fit for this earth.

The tires may not be traditional but the air in them is also not traditional. Unfortunatly the oil in the engine is also non traditional . I'm going to drive it alot so its staying on the radials!

I'm going to drive it alot so its staying on the radials! it cant be a traditional car then. its like saying its got a 'traditional' billet engine dress up kit or something...... i don't see how driving it lots makes crossplies unacceptable either. ive done about 10k on them in the last year alone, daily driven, all weathers.

he didnt say it was traditional, he said it was traditionally styled.
the wheels do have the distinctive appearance of a 1950s hot rod, which is one definition of "style"

Indeed, all the parts i try to keep in the 40's to late 40's. I even did alot of questioning of the 4-71 is acceptable in that time (first use on a car arround 1948).
As i said if you want real traditional you should use the original air and oil.... Stopped with my hobby of restoring old zundapp mopeds because they even shot you down if you used a verma bolt on a place where there should be a ribben bolt (its in small lettering on the head). That kind of things take away the hobby for me.
I'v driven with crossplies and how good and period correct they might look they jusnt arent good for daily drive with a light car with big hp. Car is going to be supercharged and the only connection between me and the road are the tires... period correct or not only the best possible are going under it.

That looks awesome dude, classic colour combo!! As for the tyre debate, 99% of people wouldn't notice whether they are crossply or radial, the 1% being dyed in the wool rodders (such as Dez, who doesn't even compromise in fitting glass!! ). There is a more traditional look to CPs but I have to agree that I'd want modern tyre technology keeping my pride and joy safe, especially considering you have a period style radial

Yep you're right. On a well set up car nothing wrong with crossplies. Worn mine out and need another set for this summer.

he didnt say it was traditional, he said it was traditionally styled. the wheels do have the distinctive appearance of a 1950s hot rod, which is one definition of "style" But that's a complete contradiction... It's not traditionally styled with radials. Christ I've got N50's on my daily cos that's what it would of had when new in 73.
