You know what John Cleese said on radio, when well know vegan (who rams it down everyone at any chance) Chrissy Hynde startin ranting. He says 'well if God hadn't intended us to eat cows, why did he make them out of meat' she shut TF up then. Yes I love leather interior, looks great, smells even better, lasts forever. No I'm not a veggie & don't feel the need to tell everyone I'm not at every verse end

At the risk of sounding controversial I absolutely love leather for car seats & s' wheels. It probably stems from all the poverty spec cars I owned when I was younger. I also have a passion for eating meat so I'm fairly immune to the dead animal thing. My Alfa 156 has grey leather which is a bit understated for me & yes it's slightly cold at the mo' but it's not as though I drive it naked or anything? Can't imagine riding my bike in anything less than full leather gear either. Love the feel of it, love the smell of it. Had an RS 1600i steering wheel trimmed when I restored the car several years ago. It was expensive but worth it forthe smell alone! lol

Good topic this and I had never given it much thought until I saw the opening topic. Have never been in a position to have a car with leather seats and as I don't wear shorts it perhaps isnt too much of a worry but then, when looking for a newer [used] car leather seats isnt something I would go for, I know people who love them and are prepared to swap interiors over from a better model to have them, just holds no interest for me. Our current cars are two ZR's, and they have something on the seat sides that look like leather but I don't think it is [any idea? seats pic coming up] it feels much like vinyl. ![](http://s5.postimg.cc/wc35ifw0j/seat.jpg) I am not a fan of leather steering wheels either, they always feel grubby when weather is damp and they seem to hold dirt from your hands, even though I don't drive with dirty hands [ugh!! no way!!], the s/wheel in the pic is a plastic one and I love it whereas our other ZR has a leather s/wheel. So back to seats, prefer cloth every time, and leather has no attraction.

joem83 The leather seats do nothing to break up the sea of black interior unlike those tartan jobs ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) They really don't & in person the leather feels cheap. I loved my GTI ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) (Sorry, another modern interior) I love the 2 tone approach BMW use: ![](http://members.roadfly.com/magbarn/IMG_1328.jpg) Alfa also do it right: ![](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2e/Alfa_Romeo_Spider_interior.jpg)

I think it depends on the car and the seats!
I really like the non leather MG Rover stuff as it is similar to the GTi seats. I'm looking for a Jag at the moment though and I can't consider any without leather! Lol
I had a Saab with leather as the velour looked awful and a volvo with velour as I didnt like the "leather" lol

Even to the point where, when you see one in cloth, it looks curse word. Makes the car look 10k cheaper

Surely everyone loves leather? Leather vs velour? Let's let resale values decide, a car with leather is always more desirable.
There are however some poor leather interiors, I had a mk 2 Mondeo Ghia X company motor that had some platic looking seats, although in their defense they did blow air con round yer jacksy. Best leather in a sensible price car, got to have been my Alfa 156, however top end a friend had a DB9, must have been a whole herd's worth of leather in there. The smell was amazing.

Half leather in my MK2 GTI Was the best, had volvo with the elephant skin type leather seats wich were cracked to hell and would be hotter than a furnace in the summer, to the point that I used to have a towel to sit on, heated in the winter maybe to hot, and my Mini thirty had half leather and now full leather, so I guess I will be using a towel again and freez in the colder months, I must be mad !

I love velour, the seats in my Fuego Turbo where brown velour and extremely comfy. Found leather seats are very slidy but bucket seats with bolster support are OK. I've been a veggie for 20 years but wouldn't eat a leather seat.

The RR is the first car I've had with leather, my old one in the UK was a pov spec 4.0L and I like it, but...
I always try to park in a multi-storey or somewhere close enough to me to have the windows cracked otherwise if not, and I'm wearing shorts, I have to remember to crank up and have a smoke outside whilst the air-con struts its stuff. Painful otherwise!

Theres good alternatives out there if you don't like leather or velour (eaugh).
My 924 has got pretty natty vinyl seats and my wife's new Merc company car came with artico "leather" (faux) seats as standard which look good.
