Did I mention there's a meet in Yapton on Wednesday evening (the 7th Jan)? I'll be there with my Christmas bells on although that may not be a selling point for it. Please bump that thread to remind us all closer to the time, as I keep forgetting! Weds eves aren't ideal for me, but I will try to be there this time! 7th is my first day back at work otherwise I'd be there. I work in London so don't get back until 8pm.( Even if you don't arrive until 9, everyone will usually still be there, although probably inside the pub

Update to this increasingly off-topic thread... Took the car out again yesterday and I definitely didn't over-rev it. Trouble is the tacho is concealed behind a smaller Motolita steering wheel that the dash layout wasn't designed for.
Took it for a blast though, stuck it in 3rd and accelerated whilst watching the tacho. The point just beyond where I would normally shift into 4th was still safely within the 6000rpm it's been built for. The smoke wasn't caused by a stressed engine.
I suspect that the dipstick can't be relied upon (it isn't fitted and could very well be from something else) and I over oiled it with thick classic engine oil. I also suspect I might have a head gasket leak, or a block oil pressure valve. I'm going to get her booked I for an oil and water flush and refill and get the gaskets and seals inspected.
It was terrible at starting and kept shutting down on acceleration for the first few minutes, then when warmed up and with an open road it ran perfectly. Then I hit a bad traffic jam on the way to Worthing and sat for 20 minutes. By the time I pulled out of that and headed back the other way it was running like a dog, flittering badly on acceleration and a few exhaust pops and coughs occurred.
Needs work.
