yup that bug has a narrowed beam.
to me, 'hard slam' means no juice and no bags.
dez - was it your bug that was being lambasted on vzi for being 'lethal'? I only lurk on there and I have a gash memory.
lewis - excess negative camber on vws just seems...right!
semi trailing arm rear aren't they?

it was the above mentioned grenn/white bug that lewis says looks 'right' that was the cause of all the controversy- even though most if not all of the naysayers have never even driven a proper slammed bug, let alone built one this is cool and safe lewis, there a few bagged ones and ones i wouldnt class as low in your selection, but good effort on the rest ;D

I totally agree with you. The gap between the wheelarch and the wheel is totally unecessary ( and evil actually ) When I slammed my mk1 golf, even my Dad agreed that it looked better - HOWEVER he went v quiet when I chucked it round a few corners with him as a passenger.

To me, 'hard slam' is the only way to go. I love lowriders, but I can't help but see the hydraulics as 'cheating' somehow! If a car is as low as any of those above and not a lowrider then it gets a big red tick next to it from me

rat rodders seem to refer to this practise as ''riding the scrub- line'' meaning that anything below rim height will hit the ground if you get a flat!

mr dez, rest assured, you are not the only one of this mindset i too refer to hardslam in all my conversations on the topic,a nd think its a good bit more hardcore than bagZ etc. nothing wrong with soft-slam, i'll do that too someday, but IMO you should choose 1 ride height and stick with it

All my cars (even non retro) have had a 'hard slam' it just looks cooler, and especially in the case of modern hatches makes a lot of difference when theres a few around that look similar.

I love the slammed look too but if I lowered my pickup - the first thing that would "SLAM" would be my sump... that's why I need to move that damn steering rack !!

The first time I came across the term "hard slammed" was on here (Hotwire I think). I like hydraulics and bags, but I can't afford them, so hard slammed is the only way to go for me! I take it "slammed" is basically on the deck or damn close to it (I don't like it when people stick a -40mm lowering kit and call it slammed... that's lowered ;D), using any suspension set-up (bags, hydros or springs), but "hard slammed" refers to a drastically lowered car on springs? All I know is, if you punch in hard slammed on Google image search with no safe search, you get all kinds of stuff come up... ;D

That Combo is awesome! And I reckon half an inch of ground clearance is pretty slammed!
