Picked up my new car, to replace the stricken Metro. Its a 1993 Toyota Celica GT-i 16. Main plan is to pretty much run as is, maybe some new wheels and a period CD/Radio and it goes straight into service as a daily tomorrow morning! I was attracted to the Celica range (Gen 5 and Gen 6) as they offered a great mix of comfort, reliability, reasonable turn of pace and not too bad on fuel. I managed to find this ST182 that had had a lot of work done by the previous owner and still relatively original (bar the GT4 bonnet and aftermarket wheels). Its a lovely drive, came back from Gatwick to nr Swindon with no issues, lovely sitting at motorway speeds and has a bit of an out school sound under acceleration, and the steering is not too light for PAS. And of course, it has pop up head lights Toyota Celica GT by RSdesignUK, on Flickr Toyota Celica GT by RSdesignUK, on Flickr Toyota Celica GT by RSdesignUK, on Flickr

May I be the first to congratulate you on your new purchase. I still love the look of the fifth generation Celica and yours looks like a peach. Does the steering wheel slide up when you pull the key out of the ignition? I'd keep the gt4 bonnet personally, as it doesn't look at all out of place. Bookmarked!

Cheers, the steering wheel does not move with the key out of the ignition unless you use the correct lever

That's a beauty, sold ours last year, she remembers it fondly. She abused it constantly, all i ever did was check the fluids and it just kept on going, great cars.

That's delicious! I've had several Mr2's which share a lot of parts with this model as well as a Gen 7 Celica all of which were great cars. Fast and reliable as long as they are well maintained. You're making me want one now!

Thanks, its just such a lovely car to be in, even on a cold commute this morning into work!
Looking at wheels, digging the rally look (white OZ Racing or possibly Compomitive MOs) but they are quite pricey.

Lovely cars, the best looking Celica in my opinion, the later bug eyes gt four just looked wrong, later one a bit feminine and the earlier ones were too wedgy for me, I think they got it spot on with the shape on the one

I am thinking either multi-spokes in White or Grey or Rally Inspired OZ Racing Style in White

Possibly OZ I would said . With pricier wheels can come lightness, which as I found on the BMW made a massive difference to how the car drove and possibly the MPG . Great purchase it has to be said. I see yours has a bit of additional poke as well with the model choice you have?
