I won a Mini Cooper S for £13 in a raffle.  RJC_2488 by srblythe, on Flickr  RJC_2487 by srblythe, on Flickr Used it over a weekend and swapped it for a 205 auto.  RJC_2559 by srblythe, on Flickr  RJC_2572 by srblythe, on Flickr I bought another Subaru "BRAT" pickup there's been some debate as to whether it's a genuine BRAT or not because it features a few accessories like the bullbar, rollbar, tail light guards, sunroof, Brat decals etc. I'm really not sure... you should be reported to the police immediately.. stealing that poor souls 205 like that..callous , just callous. its like handing over a barbie doll and taking a raleigh chopper! ;-)

To be fair the mini was fast and handled fine but I just felt like a tosser when driving it. |

Today I drove to Wick to swap my 205  RJC_2620 by srblythe, on Flickr  RJC_2621 by srblythe, on Flickr For a .... 205!  RJC_2659 by srblythe, on Flickr Left at 7 this morning, got up to Wick after lunch then took a leisurely drive back home. It's a 205 D turbo with 12 months mot and on 66k miles. It drives really well and is a much nicer place to be than the auto 205. |

Someone offered a swap for a Volvo 740 estate which I accepted.  RJC_2935 - Copy by srblythe, on Flickr  RJC_2898 by srblythe, on Flickr It's a bit of a shed but it came with a long mot and does actually drive fine, the 309 didn't have any mot but I'm sure it only needed a couple of things when the new owner put it in for a test.  RJC_2930 - Copy by srblythe, on Flickr I spotted a lovely mk1 Cavalier on facebook for under £1k which seemed like a good price, I went to see it and it looked in pretty good shape overall with a couple of bad bits of rust, the worst of it being under the rear screen which is going to be fun trying to repair. The seller couldn't get it started but I still ended up buying it. It's in unbelievable condition underneath so here's hoping I'll be able to get it roadworthy shortly. That cav is lovely. Is that rear screen bonded or just a rubber seal?
Edit- dumb question, can see it’s a beaded seal thing.

I managed to get it running, changed the fuel pump, points, condenser, spark plugs and fan belt. It now clearly needs a rocker cover gasket looking at the oil pour out at an alarming rate. It also needs new radiator hoses.

Nice collection, I thought this thread had taken an unfortunate turn when the mini pooped up, but luckily you swiftly rectified it, phew! Congrats on the win though, £13 for a 205 worked out nicely!

The Brat runs quite well now, I think to get it roadworthy it'll need the brakes looking at, some driveshafts and a couple of bits welded/tidied up. |
