I really enjoy the variety of cars that you go through. Cars that to me just wouldn't appear on the radar, but when you find them and put up the pictures I find myself thinking, wow, that's cool, I've not seen one of those in years! However I do wish that you would tell us all about them, rather than just creating an epic photo album of coolness. I will try to put some more detail into them in future, it's sometimes difficult to add anything because they just work and I don't have them long enough to do much work to them so don't have a whole lot of interesting stuff to write about them. Nobody wants to hear about fuel economy do they? |

So having just bought the 19 the other night, what better way to test it's drivablity and reliability by driving it to England to help a friend pick up a cool old Honda.  RJC_3509 by srblythe, on Flickr It was only down in the Lake district so just over 3 hours each way, the Renault with it's 1.4 carbed engine performed remarkably well on the journey and didn't give any cause for concern. I have clocked up just over 500 miles since Thursday! It was a pretty uneventful drive back up to Scotland, My friend said that the exhaust note was a little bit loud so he'll be looking to fit a rear silencer. |

 Still Game Dogging Rover by srblythe, on Flickr In other news the Rover 220 that I bought for £80 and gave away to a friend is going to be in an episode of Still Game in a scene which involves dogging! I occasionally get contacted by a guy I know in Glasgow who sources cars to be used in film and tv, I've had cars in a couple of things so far including the David Walliams childrens film shown around christmas time on the bbc "Grandpas great escape" and another film called "hush" which I'm yet to see... For still game, the production company were after something along the lines of a boy racer style Cavalier with tinted windows, not having anything like that I suggested an Audi 80.  RJC_3246 by srblythe, on Flickr Which they were 80% sure they were going to use until they found out it had electric rear windows and needed wind down windows, the only car I could think of was the Rover which they accepted. Talk about scraping the barrel eh? That amount of filming led to around 30 seconds on the actual screen... I curse word about with the carb and timing when it wasn't running right before so no doubt I'll have to make some adjustments now that it runs without cutting out. That Ranger looks cooler to me every time I see it! Do you still have the Tata? I no longer own a tata, the last one went in a deal with the 305 van last year. I'd have another but preferably a single cab this time. |

The Proton was a bit rustier underneath than I expected, under both rear arches were particularly bad so I spend around 15 hours welding everything underneath last weekend including inner and outer arches and suspension mounts. Today it went in for an mot and passed so an excellent result for the effort I put in. |

Very yes! Rust on the Proton was a bit shocking, it hid that well with those extra trims on the outside. Nice work putting it all right again.
