This is one the shows I most look forward to each year, the All Odds Nationals is as close to the straight up UK Retro scene as Japan gets, but with the sheen of Japanese quality, attention to details and inventive thinking.
The trick here is not just to think "oh I need to import a Mitsubishi Debonair" it is to think "that looks great, what other cars would that work on?", whilst I've loved that we're getting more interesting Japanese cars imported over here, I feel we've missed a trick still with looking at our UK and European cars through the lense of the Japanese scene. The All Odds Nationals reignites those thoughts in me every year, that 510 could be a Cortina, that Debonair could be a Morris Oxford, that CROWN Pickup could be a Cortina based P100, and so on and so forth.
Or just enjoy the pictures from one of my favourite car shows
Lets have a handful of Pre The CROWN Of CROWNs (!??!?)
AP100 Cortina Pick Up CROWN Pick Up, such a nicely proportioned pick up to my eyes
Having said I'd rather people thought what they could do with UK and European cars, there are some cars you can't find an equivalent for, one day I'll import one of these
Great looking long roof
And now for some more
Looking Debonair, that paintwork!
Coupe is so stlyish with some nice smooth modifications
Two Tone with colour coded wheels works well, simple, effective, well executed
620 Pickup, not so keen on the chop, but the wheels at the back look super wide, so there may be more going on than meets the eyes
I LOVE THESE THINGS
It's a classic, but I'll never get bored of it... Why hasn't someone done this with a Triumph 2000 yet?? WHY!??!
Just loving this!
All these photos are from the official Mooneyes page for the event : www.mooneyes.co.jp/aon2014_report/
There are more photos out there I've seen a few cars on Minkara Car View and some on Instagram that certainly haven't shown up here, so if you find any more feel free to share... or can you match up some more UK/Euro, easier to get models with some of the photos in the AON gallery.
