Well my car(mk3 1 litre polo) broke down yesterday (wouldn't start waited for 45 mins for the AA to come at which point it started and ran fine for the rest of the day and then today). Whilst we were waiting for the AA to arrive we were noticing how curse word the rotor arm/ dizzy cap/ leads etc were. So today I went along to Eurocarparts and got a Ner rotor arm/cap/set of plugs and leads. I've come home and fitted all of the above and now my car won't start.
Not only that but it keeps making a big POP out of the TB enough to lift the air box top which I placed on.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP. What could be the problem?? I desperately need the car for work as i work 20 miles away and have no other form of transport. Please please helP!!

Does it have points? As that is the only thing you have not replaced! Are the plug leads in the right order? Easy to connect them up wrong.
Could be the coil too I guess

Doesn't have points I don't think. Which is number 1 on the Dizzy cap? Thats assuming no 1 spark plug is the one nearest the timing belt (left hand side with the bonnet up. I took each lead of by itself to make sure I didn't confuse them looks like I might have

Sounds like dizzy timing out due to leads in wrong order as above, unless you messed with the dizzy itself and screwed up the timing?

Yep according to autodata its 1342, 1 being furthest away from the gearbox and dizzy turns anti clockwise and I don't know if its any use but it shows no1 as being lower left on the dizzy cap.
