Had this one a couple of months now, shouldve started a build thread but never got round to it!! 1966 Volvo 121 Amazon B18 engine and single stromberg carb Had problems with leaky tank (now fixed) Dodgy welded on rear hub! (now fixed) carb and fuel pump full of crud (rebuilt) plastic fuel line loosely run under car ( replaced with new copper line). Issues with wiring,(fixed) speedo not working (fitted cable) key was also snapped in ignition ( fixed and sourced new keys) I Resolved all the above and moved onto creating the slamazon! Created an adjustable panhard rod from a landy one. Chopped 90mm out of it and tweaked both ends to fit. Set of very short springs and adjustable short gaz shocks all round. flipped lower balljoint mounts. Banded Steels bought and repainted 16 x 8.5 and 16 x 9.5 from a nissan xtrail/primera. 30mm hubcentric spacers on front, 3mm spacers on rear. no real plans to do much more, needs a little bit or welding here and there over time but nothing major.

Looks wonderful! I'm not usually that fond of the banded steels look, but it looks so right on this! Perfect height too.
The best colour for one of these too. Well done!

thanks guys, i havent really driven it enough yet to really comment on how it drives, handles etc, my view is also skewed a bit by everything i own being a) low and b)old. The test drive around the block seemed reasonable, its not as hard as the substandard but its still reasonably bumpy! its needs a bit of a tune after rebuilding the carb and I'm not convinced the valve clearances are right so should probably check them asap too. This one wont be getting a v8 in my ownership. All mods have been kept reversible, this was purchased and funded using house saving money that wasnt making much sat in the bank, come time to buy a house it will have to go, in order to maximise return ive had to be strict and only modify using bolt on parts and retain all the old bits. Its probably worth more in original condition than modified. This was mega hard and I'm sure some of you familiar with my other project will understand this isnt the way i usually do things! It was supposed to be a summer daily but its taken longer than i hoped to get it this far, should get a couple of months out of it before winter sets in and its garage away time! Heres how bad she had been bodged...... http://instagram.com/p/q7nNVnF83E saving this halfshaft took forever!

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

its nasty isnt it! i drove it over 100miles like that too.
Also had a total of 6 wheel nuts missing too.. hubcaps hide too many sins, defiantly removing them on any future purchases of classics i made prior to driving!

Spectacular! You really must take some photos of it with the Standard, such similar shapes & treatments in different scales.

i hid the standard for a while so i wouldnt be able to break it before RR and so i could focus on other projects. My partner has a 64 beetle as well. As of last night all three are all in pretty much one piece all parked next to each other on the drive looking mean! ill take a pic later if i can with some strategic parking of the daily hacks out of shot!
