Hi, I have (for various embarassing reasons) huge piles of Haynes manuals all over the house - any ideas for how to get rid of them. Round here even the charity shops will not take them, no-one on ebay wants them even at cost postage and start price of sub £1... my idea was to buy one of each car I have a manual for and then sell it complete with Haynes manual - I think my landlord might evict me before I finished though Cheers Graham

make a list, bung them in the for sale section here, if no one wants any of them, recycle.

I'm suprised no one on ebay wants them, I knew a guy who used to trawl car boots for them cheap then bang them on the bay and get around a tenner plus postage (I'm guessing now he must have known which ones were in demand) Yeah, I'd also say make a list and bang them on here.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

For a laugh, swap the covers over and sell them as a rare misprinted manual on eBay.
Should be funny watching someone trying to adjust the Hydroelastic suspension on their Cortina - "Well it says in the manual there should be a valve here....."

I saw a set of Haynes covers reduced and reprinted onto coasters, looked like a pukka Haynes product. The pack was optimistically titled Classics Cars, contained small hatches like Metro, Panda, Nova and Fiesta IIRC.
So, remove the covers and sell them as table mats?..

Ive got hundreds of haynes manuals, Ive collected them for years. The problem is all the "swaps" I have are impossible to get shot of. I cant bin them! Tried selling them but nobodys interested. I think ive got about 7 mk2 escort manuals.

I find the problem with Haynes guides is that people find one for a rare car and assume that it must be worth a fortune. Of course, in reality there are loads more guides than cars, so they're worth next to nothing. the ones that do have value (on e-bay at least) seem to be for mid 90s cars, where people will pay a few quid for a second hand one rather than £15plus for new.

Good point.
You'll get -0.01 quid for a Renault 6 manual. But a Mk1 Escort or Mini manual will make a few bob like.

But surely every mk1 escort or mini owner must alredy have atleast one haynes manual for their car?

Perhaps a sticky thread in the for sale sections with requests and offers would be good? The exploded drawings in them are great, that's how I ended up with about 15 for cars I don't have/will never own. Perhaps there could be a niche market for kitchen table tops with manuals under a sheet of glass or stick them together to make garage wall insulation...?

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I have a huge collection of them, I'm always trawling round the charity shops and Freecycle for them. I'd have an unwanted ones off people here but the postage is the killer

anything reliant or skoda ticks my boxes; if you need to shift them.
what about cutting all the pages out of the book, bining the cover and putting it all into a ring binder, then ebaying them as 'pukka workshop manual'? the one for the scimitar will get you over £50! (for a real one!)
