There's an Allegro estate on banded steels, I saw the picture recently and cannot refind it. All I can say is YES, it is a good look.

Trouble with width is going to be the suspension so while you'll likely get regular Minilites on, wide ones are probably going to cause clearance issues at the back. They're 4x114.3 PCD so there's lots of choice at least, the tricky part is finding that nice balance of width and offset, what looks good on the back is often far too wide on the front with Allegros.

It's a shame the really interesting Japanese wheels are so expensive, the Allegro is one of those cars that you can get away with putting really weird wheels on in a way you can't with something more mundane. These staggered Hayashi Talons (picture nabbed from an American 2015 advert) would look superb, though the measurements of 15x7 with a -2 offset may cause clearance issues.

Ultimately the best way forward would be to ditch the hydrogas suspension and have air ride, not sure the wife would approve though when it's the same price as a decent holiday! 😆

That's the very picture I was trying to find! To my eye that looks really right in that shot. The 1300 not so much because of that FWD offset problem of wide front track and no bodywork to cover the wheels, which is a shame because otherwise the Cosmics look right at home there.
