I'm tight, I'm skint and I need a set of new tyres for the Dolomite Sprint alloys that are on my trusty Toledo... I'm loathe to go for a set of budget tyres but needs must at the moment as some tyres are better than old slick(ish) ones I suppose...!!! What brands/tyre centres do you recommend for a good deal? As I say, I'm not really that happy with having to go cheap but I am sure that the budget brands can't be that bad can they...? They wouldn't make 'em if they were total turd right...?! Anyhow, any suggestions would be hugely appreciated... Have a piccy of a tasty Dolly Sprint using some of its tyres...!!!

Uniroyal Rain Experts(I think) seem to get pretty favourable reviews in most places and are very affordable. I've got a set of Uniroyal rallye 440's on the MG which are a much older looking tread design but they still grip the road pretty well

I'll probably stir up a hornet's nest etc, saying this but (if you're on a budget) I'd prefer a set of good branded part worns (caveat...from a reputable supplier) over a set of budget ditch finders ....just got a set of 4 215/55/16 goodyear eagle nct's, 5-6mm tread, matching set, 2 years old for £110 fitted

Might sound silly but I usually buy a set of alloys on Ebay that are fitted with good tyres (In the desired size), have them changed and then sell on the wheels. Haven't paid for a tyre in years doing it this way....
edit: Example, Our trusty Daily is a 2002 Focus fitted with 195/55/15 Tyres. When I needed 4 tyres last year, I priced up replacements. Goodyear £310, budget £187 fitted.
I paid some guy on Ebay for some old Audi alloys with almost new Pirelli's on same size £275. Paid local centre £40 to swap over. Spent 2hrs and £3 in materials cleaning them, then sold them on ebay for £115 - Result = Pirelli's for £200 = WIN

thats a weird coincidence, I've just recently bought a pair of part worn Good year eagle nct's Muchos coincicences... I'm waiting on a geezer phoning me back about a set of W124 steels with part work Goodyear Eagle NCT5s on them. I need steels and the Eagle NCT5s are my preferred tyre of the last few years but they've become hard to find new. I've got two W124s and my wife's modern Lexus with them on.

When I lived round your way, I used to get my part worns from here: linkbased near Thorpe park. They are friendly and offer 4 wheel alignment if needed. I almost always go for part worn these days, 30-40 for a fitted, branded tyre with 6mm left as opposed to 80-90 for a new one? no-brainer.

+1 For the money, these take some beating. Don't know if you'll get them in 175/65R13 though (assuming that's what you're aiming for)

Snap, got pirelli part worns on the Porsche for £80 which is cheaper than a single new tyre. I buy discovery steels with tyre for about £10 a piece for my defender off eBay. As long as you have matching pairs your good.

Autogrip are pretty good, other than that my van came fitted with Accelera Iota, i've been so impressed by them I bought another set when it came to renew them. To be honest I have no idea whether they cover your tyre size but I was limited looking at budget VAN tyres in 20 inches!
My Avons on the magnum weren't as good as the above and I ended up swapping them for falkens after them going out of true. Have you tried camskill, although you'll have to budget paying someone to fit em or again openeo as a supplier.

Have had Nankang Ditchfinders they're OK gripwise and wearwise, I bought some cheaper Chinese green tyre 18"'s off ebay new, they were curse word, looked and felt like they were made from plastic.

I used to rate Colway remoulds over cheap imports anyway but that is no longer the case - cheap tyres are now quite good for everyday use plus virtually no remoulds now available. I'm after a set of 4x4 tyres for my Mahindra and intend buying a set of Land Rover wheels with good tyres as, other people have already said, that is the cheapest option then swopping them over.

Id go part worns.
I had some Linglong & wanli's on my E36, as soon as it rained, cornering became understeery/oversteery roulette. By that I mean at low speeds you would either nearly crash due to understeer or oversteer - it would do one or the other, quite scarry & put me off budgets for life.

Another vote for Nankang NS2, leagues ahead of any other budget, and for the sizes I normally go for, usually about £5-10 a tyre more than a part worn.

part worn premium tyres whenever possible here, thankfully 195 50 15 michelins are used on a few race cars and fit three of my 4 vehichles.
