Theres a few vanning people on here, and others who use em for a living. Over the last week I have been collecting quotes online for a normal fiesta shaped van from all the main private van people, so far doing ok with post office. (does seem to be all the same people though) However I have not siad about modding it yet (don't have to but would be nice), in stock alloy wheels, steering wheel, descreet exhaust, small stuff really. a chop? Maybe a modded private car type policy may be better/cheaper, is it poss? Also a lot of companies presume its for work, and not just for fun, or all you have. So any wisdom shed here would be good. Would love to mod it slightly but don't wanna drive up the cost of insurance.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

havent u been able to get it insured one a car policy, cant see why there would be extra problems for moding a van than there would be for a car. theres plently of mod'ed vans about so it mustnt be too much bother.

Insurance companies don't seem to understand that you want a van and not want it for business use. Only people that would cover the caddy's once i modded them (both the truck and van) was Adrian Flux, and then it ain't cheap.

Yeah, I should at least have a word with flux and me mates at roadsure, but on regular van quotes when selecting private use you get teh email summary stating " private use - NO Commuting! so I have had to go with "own goods not for reward" "business 0 years"! Cos this things a blank canvas i'm tempted to mod! funnt thing is its been insured as standard but clearly has mk4? bumpers on (not 100% sure TBH, but they are propper Ford bits so should not count. a nice small steering wheel, mover the seat further back to accomodte stilt legs, nice (cheap) rimz, and spring chop, and maybe some graphix, its all too tempting LOL! edit flux site looks good will call tomorrow.

;D They're not Mk4 bumpers they're Mk3 fiesta SI bumpers. You are quite right i passed one this morning. Still a bit newer than an '89 F reg though. Doubt it will affect insurance then trying to work out whetehr i still like XR2i jobbies or not, the Si things are a bit bubbly. I seriously got lost with MK's of Fiestas and Escorts after Mk3's and Mk5's!

I really like the SI bumpers and i think it could look fantastic lowered with some decent rims!!I think they're definitely reaching the "potential" stage especially early ones. I would be tempted to re-vert back to stock bumpers. With some slammage will look brilliant!!

Those bumpers are definately NOT HELPING. I'm sure there may be about 0.1mg of potential there, but it appears to be hiding under 900kgs of landfill.
PS. Any chance of seeing your V8 Sierra soon?

There's loads of potential in that, it's just keeping un-chavvy that'll be the hard part. How about trying to fit some small chrome bumpers (Mk1 Fester?) or better still perhaps some Mk2 Escort stylee quarter bumpers, some droppage and some nice Euro-look small wide rims.
