Just to add, that I have never herard ANYONE have a good word to say about the Magnum Engineering kits for Sierras, Capris or whatever. A chap I know of via another forum bought theit kit and had to re-weld all the pipes on the headers, a mate down the pub bought their mounts and they put the sump where the steering rack needed to be and still fouled the cross member, etc. etc. and a selection of other 2nd hand stories. Not once have I heard "they were good" either first or second hand.
I never have had a small block Ford but I have had a bunch of yankee V8s and a Rover V8. Easy to work on and easy to tune. Good stuff.

don't expect a light car to handle as well after you drop a V8 in it though, i know they are not all ten ton boat anchors, but as an example the difference between a mk1 escort with an Xflow in it and a pinto is very noticable, thats not to say that the more powerfull pinto isnt fun, it IS, but it definatly isnt as crisp and sharp on corners as the lighter xflow, same with cortinas and sierras, the colognes extra weight over the pinto is noticable.

I remember reading a Fast ford from years ago where a guy stuck a V8 (chevy I think) into his Granada Scorpio (12v). He put alloy heads on it and different exhaust manifolds and he had to fit lowering springs to the front as it was lighter than the cologne he'd removed!!

I had to do that with my Victor. I used Ventora front spings (3.3 straight six) and they sat high with the Chevy V8 in.
If it was Cologne that came out I would imagine it had to be something that wasn't a trad SBChevy. those things weigh a TON.

Great point popuptoaster, thats always a criticism of heavier upgrades.. For the Magnum engineering thing, as said my mate who built mine was not impressed and had to mod the bits and given the chance again he'd make his own, However, they modified the pedal box for the Capri so i could use the Rovers Hydraulic clutch, and i has happy enough with the the work and service.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thats what seems to of happened to mine! however it apparently has XR4 shocks and springs.

Yeah the rover will be waaaay lighter than the cologne LOL
Its a shame the Yanks didn't keep a hold of the Buick V8 in production for longer. Might have made tuning parts for it easier.

would have meant it never came over here though..
There used to be tons of stuff for the Rover V8 but in recent years its scaled down as people can get hold of Chevy, Ford, Mopar engines much cheaper.
