Regarding the look - does unpainted bumpers and steels 'do it' for moderns? I say there's definitely something in 'pov speccing' things as an element of Cafe racer-ifying them. Not really for me - just looks like the Euro necessity of fitting winter tyres from October to March.

Just found this on e-bay. I reckon a better-looking roll bar (or two roll-hoops) would bring this right into the café-racer criteria EDIT: Let's see if this pic comes out any bigger

Where did this photo/photoshop come from? Is it a real thing?

I think it is real, but it's a scale model. 1/18 at a guess.

That was the one in particular that has me looking at my Spitfire shell...
Although looking at it the dish on the rear wheels looks achievable (they're quite far in on rotoflex models), but you won't be able to get that much dish on the fronts without arches...
Still. Do want.

Do want. On you go then, and put up a build thread, that would look awesome as a road car!

It had me looking funny at a few spitfires too when I first saw it. Then I locked on to the Healeys on here and have had half an eye out for one. Failing that, there’s a 60s styled kit car I’ve been watching in development that also floats my Cafe Racer boat! Pleeeeease do the spitfire.

I'm sure someone can find pictures, being old i'm useless at such things!
But look up the Vincent Hurricane and Sammio Spyder, both kit cars built on a Spitfire chassis and both very evocative of the Cafe Racer/weekend sportsmans look, the Sammio, which was in production at least till quite recently looks a bit like a 50s Maserati and the Vincent, which was made in the 1970s and 80s is a bit more modern and has a hint of TVR about it.
Both still turn up on ebay and specialist forums from time to time and I believe the rights to the Vincent are still in the hands of someone who will make you one if you ask nicely enough!

I like the Vincent But I like the Sammio Spyder more, and I'll add that to my list of cars ive never heared of before. Both suited to the cafe racer look, but the Spyder moreso.

^ Looks like Jimmy Dean's Little Basdart was fixed using a cobra front end.

My only concern with the Spyder is a bit of a banana profile, looks good in that shot above though.

Black wires on a dark red/plum car with (satin?) gold details looks to be a very safe cafe racer formula. I like that lots.
