finally got the dash instruments mounted in the dash. For mx5 instruments, I don't think they look too out of place.... also started to fit the tires onto the rims. just waiting for the valves now some DIY tire fitting et voila......

Looking good man The rocker cover issue is easily sorted. I chopped the top of the cam cover which instantly made my engine look like this : I wish haha On another note, what inserts did you use in your front struts? I need to sort mine out as you get sea sick in it at the moment and following friends think I'm about to take the chrome off the door handles!! James

That engine is practically porn!!!!
The shocks are just SPAX adjustable shocks for a hillman hunter (non estate)
They do front inserts, and rear replacements.... I just Google'd it bud

Fitted shorter springs on the front today, they're now only 6" long Haha but I've screwed the spring seats back up to their highest setting for now until I get the wheels on...
Tomorrow I'm hoping to skim the disk brakes down, and drill the new wheel stud holes for the rims I have
possibly get the prop shaft done too. Will post pics soon

as for normad; I did buy a full set of sierra lowering spring, front and rear. I still have them as I used the rally design approach instead. I'll check what lowering they are, but you can have them for cheap if you like? Still boxed, and I won't ever use them Check your PMs

the new pump arrived, its up to 200bhp so should cope with the mx5s 140..... mounted the fuel pump, waiting for the fuel lines now... Loving the build so far, I'm fitting the same engine in my 78' Celica and have been looking at fuel systems swirl pots etc, I'm pretty sure this is a low pressure pump, used to feed carbs or a swirl pot. You then need a Bosch 044 or equivalent provide the flow and psi needed to run fuel injection, Hope I'm wrong, but it worth a check

One leaf less, and some fettling on my works 5 ton press later and I've actually managed to get the rear leaf springs where I want them! no lowering blocks needed, and still quite firm in the rear end bounce department I've now got the rear dropped 4" and level with the front, and spaced the front wheels out 10mm. Once I've removed the rear hubs (bloody nightmare to do btw) and drilled the new wheel stud holes, ill put the wheels on and get a pic up

Been working on the dash board... It's all wired up now, and ready to be inserted back into the car! the main two dials light up, I'll get round to the other gauges later when I have more time. The fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and water temperature gauge were cut from the mx5 dash and mounted on a piece of wood which I shaped to try and look half decent the 3 gauges secured to the wood I also fitted some switches for the ignition, fuel pumps, and an ignition light. The ignition light is the old hazard warning light... I'm fitting a push start button where the choke cable pull was... And the dash as it is..... I have also had a few things arrive in the post this week!!! mainly a load of different parts from different places to make the exhaust system up, stainless pipes, stainless silencer (not too silenceeeey of coarse haha), clamps, hangers, flexible pipes, etc... AND a high pressure fuel pump, swirl pot, and yet more braided fuel lines..... so there should be some progress happening very soon

Really enjoying this build thread. Car is looking smashing, glad you've gone with man size tyre's and not rubber bands.

thanks Been cutting exhaust pipe the last few days, there was a lot of trigonomatry and pythag (spelt right?) and headaches going on when i realised, if i hold the piece of pipe and draw where to cut with a sharpie, its just as good and a lot easier! Haha get it finished then post pics, also have a radiator fan coming this week thanks to all that have taken the time to read my all but professional thread ha
