Lovely What are you planning paint wise?

Ha I have no idea paint wise!!!! I mean I'm certain it's either going to be; real nice dark red maroon...... Or baby blue.... Or baby blue with a cream roof (a bit cliché though ) or or baby blue with a Union Jack roof? ? But then I see a car somewhere else in a lovely colour and I change my mind again! Haha either way it'll be a while yet, get it on the road first lol

THE RADIATOR IS PLUMBED IN!!!!! I will get pics up soon, but the engine bay is coming along nicely now..... nearly at the dreaded wiring stage once the prop shaft has come out of the lathe at work! :s

hi all..... haven't been on here in ages as ive been busy getting my daily car road worthy again! but anyway, not much has happened lately due to the dark nights after work and no lights in my works yard... but now my daily car is on the road I should have room in the garage for this little thing now! probably a good thing as it isn't very safe down the yard. I had some little curse word(s) break into it and steal about 200 pounds worth of exhaust system! thankfully they didn't touch the more expensive fuel system which was also in the boot all plumbed up!
anyway..... only thing to report ATM is the purchase of an adjustable fuel regulator... I am also looking at turbos, maybe from a Subaru or something, we'll see what ebay churns out... ha but on the topic of fuel pressure, I also acquired some rx8 injectors, and will be plumbing all this in soon... but does anyone know what sort of pressure a standard mx5 fuel rail will cope with without bursting??? the pump and regulator I now have will (If I wanted to blow myself up) go up to 8 bar, but obviously that a tad extreme hahahaha!
oh and you may have noticed the picture quality is (only just) better due to a new phone haha I will try be more up to date now as I start working on it more.... I will also have to quickly put the rear axle back on to move the car to the garage before I go stripping down and re doing it as planned.... but a quick session slapping the car with a tape measure to check it will fit in the garage first I think

Not sure on the pressure but, I managed to get 12psi of boost through my engine and had no fuelling issues. I just used the standard fuel pressure and celica gt4 injectors with an uprated pump! That should see about 220+ bhp and be probably why I put a rod through the side of the block eventually haha!
You'll probably be able to find the answer on turbo miata.
curse word about the exhaust stuff though.

I'm guessing that you wanted to go so stiff on suspension to avoid having tyre contact on the arches and a very small gap there? Personally, I think you would be better off going a bit softer on suspension and increasing the clearance to allow more travel. On spring rates, 150lb/" for general use rising to about 300lb/" for out and out circuit use is about the usual with struts..... 500lb/" is going to give a very harsh ride. 200lb/" would give a good compromise for a fast road daily driver I reckon? Otherwise it should make for a nice interesting and reliable car....the new instruments look to be a really good choice.

the springs I have on there atm are 300lb load... although my current daily is lowered and you can't get your fingers in the arches hahaha so I'm used to no ride quality....

in other news; -I ordered a turbo which should be here Friday or just after... -But ive also been looking at upgrading the engine bay side of the fuel system... so ive started making a custom fuel rail at work from a block of aluminium
ive just started a thread in the technical section of this forum if you want to check it out, but this is a pic of the design I have so far haha;
hopefully wont take too long to make, then I may look at getting it anodised or just polish the proverbial out of it

Sweet! What turbo have you gone for? They are great fun in the wet haha.
Will You be doing anything to the rear end? Welding the diff etc.

I didn't ink about it but now you've said I may have to weld it up! haha and I'm not sure on the turbo but its a fairly high pressure and it was big-ish for a 2 litre engine so on a 1.8 there should be a tiny bit of lag then all hell will break lose!
what psi did you run yours at?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
I ran mine up to 12psi. it was awesome but 8-10 was best. After 10psi I was getting trouble with detonation so I had to put lots of fuel in and retard the spark alot more.
Will you be running wasted spark with edis? Or will you use the direct coil drivers?
I'm going to modify my megasquirt so that it's running the 4 coil drivers which allows fully sequential ignition. This gives you better control on the turbo'd engine as the wasted spark on the wasted spark setup can interfere with antilag and rev cut limiters.
If you want any more info about the megasquirt just let me know. It can be frustrating at first, then all of a sudden it all comes together and the car will fire straight up!

This is rather lovely, although I'd vote for keeping it white with those wheels, moderate sleeper look ! :-D Exhibit A :- Case closed. :-D
