I can't believe I said in the video thread "was this mentioned on the forum"!! Seriously, how did I miss this?!
Annnnnyway, if I can spare £4 from my tiny student budget I will have to try and pick myself up a copy of this.
Isn't that just SOOOOOOOOO true!

I can honestly say i don't see my car as big budget, most parts were second hand , from memory only the cage and seats were new , so it didnt cost a lot to build . As i see it most of us build the car how they want and buy what they want at the best price they can. Would you buy a new set of wheels or a set that are a third of the price and refurb them your self, would you spend a day porting your cylinder head yourself or spend 500 buying one ? I think most people on here would do the later.

I'm not getting the debate about what's retro etc.
Just wanted to say how cool it all looks and I'll check it out when I get back into the country for sure. It's a real pleasure to see such good pictures, and I can only assume the feature looks as good. Stuart the photographer is obviously talented, and if you haven't seen some of his work before then check out Car magazine et al. That's the bonus of having a big budget I guess.
As for those of you who are ashamed of buying Max Power...
Really? Have you seen what we drive about in? ;D

I'm really annoyed about this. The latest issue of Max Power is in one of those plastic wallet things so you can't just look at the pictures in the shops. £5 for a magazine is too much right now

Totally agree with Mr Hirst again. As a oddball car owner, there are many occasions when thought has to be above finances due to a lack of supply.
You try getting a set of EVSA shock absorbers for mine. With the EGi Coupe, I bet there aren't even 50 examples surviving, let alone an after-market lowered/tuned spangly option.
Hirst can't even get trim from his main dealer, certain parts have run out for mine, hence the flappy windows (another thing unique to the 50 or so). Bodging stuff to keep it running is an ongoing struggle in itself, let alone tuning and cosmetics.
But anyway, well done to the boys for getting those excellent cars into MP. The preview shots look superb.

I was just expressing it would have been nice to perhaps see something from the other end of things in there as well to show how all encompassing we are with what we do, big budget, small budget, popular car, obscure car.. it doesn't matter. That is all. Photography is excellent, seeing the photos of them photographing the event shows just how much work went into it all. Looks like more RRers are getting into magazines.. When I get the chance I'll put together a list of them that we can keep updating.

I picked up my copy at the Airport and it's now in the hands of a Guy from NHOA with a lovely CROWN Wagon. I could have given it away several times over as everyone I showed it to couldn't belive we have old J tin over here.
The only problem I have is did they really have to use 4 pictures with me in!!! what am I the RR poster girl? ;D

Bodging stuff to keep it running is an ongoing struggle in itself, let alone tuning and cosmetics. Get this, I looked into it a bit further and not only do they not stock trim parts (even fairly essential ones like lights), but Daihatsu UK do not stock Charmant parts PERIOD, not even service parts like oil filters. Daihatsu Japan might be a different matter. Lucky it has all the KE70 mechanicals as Charmant spares cars are not something easily obtained, but that is pretty shocking support for a car they sold until the late 80s. Roll on Japanese tat club!

Bought the magazine, and enjoyed looking at the feature. Liked the pics, and you guys concerned look goood... ;D
But I think it's a case of too little, too late for Max Power though. I was left with this distinct feeling that they don't know who they're aiming the magazine at. In general it was thin on fact and inaccurate to the point of annoyance. I more than most know how hard it is to work on a large magazine that's being screwed down by Emap, but it's now the sort of magazine you might pick up, and more than likely you won't because you can't preview what you're buying... Meaning it doesn't have a dedicated core readership, consequently it doesn't look too good for them. Which is a shame, because like it or not Max Power has been a huge force in the modified car market over the last ten years.
The only valid thing i can take from it is that they've faced up to, and asked the question, what's next...? Which is very interesting.
