I'm still waiting on parts from Kameari, my shopping list got a bit bigger, originally after forged pistons and bigger valves I ended up getting a few more toys including their twin idler to remove the chain tensioner. Kamari say it'll rev to 12,000rpm but I've 'only' got 10,000rpm springs ;-)

Also got a full spare L18 engine, a spare L18 block and a few ancillaries now. Should be good for the foreseeable future.

Not much of a chance to be honest as I've got a much larger and more expensive project on the go at the moment...

Although, I do have a spare engine I could throw, in theory it could on the back of a low loader. It's just not very presentable at the moment and I don't seem to have any free time.

The twin idler is a gorgeous bit of kit, made setting up the timing chain very easy given how much came off my block/head when they got decked.

Word from the wise though....hold back on ordering the Kameari valve spring retainers - or buy the ones I'm not using! I have the 9K Kameari springs...and the Kameari retainers aren't a large enough diameter to fit them properly. The stock Nissan ones worked fine, but the Kameari ones were too small, so the shoulder of the spring was outside the face diameter of the retainer...not good. It is possible that the retainers are only meant for the 10K springs - s20 might have a better insight.

This is bloody incredible, I'm on OZ currently with a few contacts in Japan, usually living in Wales though, if you need any little bits I'd be more than happy to bring them over, need to go B road blasting with this and my GZ10. If you ever wanna shift the TRD seat i'll eat your arm.

The last of the parts from Kameari Engine Works arrived today, they'll soon be delivered to my engine builder so he can finally get around to putting it all together.

Some inspiration

My chosen engine builder has some spare time now as all his Formula Ford engine builds have been shipped out. He said a couple weeks.

Problem is, the house has been all consuming, I've not even taken down the old concrete sectional garage, let alone built a new one. I need t pull my finger out...

While browsing Yahoo Japan I found a poster from the '71 Japanese GP featuring the SCCN Bluebird P510 so I had to have it. Mori San from Kameari kindly bid and shipped it to me, along with a Kameari radiator cap.

Once christmas has f**ked off and I've had some time in the mountains I'll get on with the project, honest.

This might be the biggest slow burner potential on RR....

Bibbles Thank you. It's nice to hear other people like it too. I'd never seen one before in the flesh and now have only seen one other (USDM LHD 510 2 door) but there are a couple more over here now, still, pretty rare.

ToolsnTrack, yeah, it's a slow burn. The engine has taken a while, but that's because I wanted it done right and how it would have been done in Japan when it was being raced. A few more bits to buy still, but it's 90% done. End result will be a few years away, I'm going with working first, then once I've had some fun, take it apart again and do the body work.

luckyseven, being over 100 miles away doesn't help progress, I do really need to tidy up the engine bay while the engine is out, but I do have some very good excuses. Next year things will be different, I should have my garage built by March and the car moved over. Then I can progress with bolting it back together and tidying it up where I can.
