The Red oxide is actually growing on me, It'll stay for a while . I quite like my bare metaled aluminium boot too, but that'll probably tarnish very quickly. Basically just making it look externally pleasing until I get it under cover to really start on it.

That looks really cool. Seconded on the oxide and ally boot. Give it a coat of lacquer to stop it tarnishing.

Didn't realise they had alloy panels
I was thinking about these the other day,don't they have the old landrover engine in them? If so a 200/300tdi should fit and make a cool daily cruiser

If so a 200/300tdi should fit and make a cool daily cruiser Yeah, the bonnet , boot and doors are all aluminium . and on this car are all still in good condition thankfully. The TDI swap has been done on a few of these as it is apparently an easy swap (one was sold on ebay very recently). . . Something to consider if the engine dies or I decide the mpg is horrific (which it will be) first task after I've built the workshop is to get it MOT ready and then see what else needs doing. |

1986 Mercedes 200 (W124) (Standard and daily)
1976 Peugeot 404 1800 Stickshift (Standard - awaiting complete resto, engine done)
1984 Ford Cortina (P100) LDV - Cab and chassis restored, interior and glass not fitted, brand new 3 liter engine (last 110kw Sierra XR6 engine fitted and married to 5 speed Toyota Gearbox), load body needed.

As Dave said, Progress has been made . But painfully slowly , I'm having to get in the Garage when the little one is asleep - which isn't very often  . Anyway, Fuel pump - replaced as the ultra cheap solid state broke. electrics changed from posi to Negi earth . Brake cylinders rebuilt and refitted. Mini Mp3 amp bought to be fitted with hidden speakers under the front seats. Cleaned up front discs and pads , cleaned up front wheel wells and sparked a huge debate on the p4 drivers guild re the "floating brake cylinders" and which way is correct as apparently they shouldn't be tight to the back plate in order to centre the shoes. next up bleeding the brakes to see where else they leak from - and perhaps a BBQ to entice some Mates round to lend a hand whilst the little'un and Mum head off to Nanna's house. |
