Need to have a car day soon dude. Not seen you in ages Yes mate, that would be good! definately want to be on road for the nats this year. Got some lowering blocks to fit on the rear , springs to chop on the front, and on last start up it seems the carb is not shutting off so is curse word out of the overflow. other than those minor things, and barring any disaster I should be well on track.

is it the same engine as the landrover?
If so I have a fairly new Weber single choke carb from my old land rover in the loft you can have , probably needs a clean out (progression holes can block up) but it ran Ok when removed.

I 'think' I have the issue sorted , but that is a very kind offer kevins. It is the same 2.6 straight 6 as landy. How much do you want for it out of interest? as it would potentially make a nice upgrade.

I don't want anything, I need to thin out my collection of "usefull one day stuff" but it came off a 2.25 so might be a bit undersized.
While I am at it anyone want a radio / cd player for free? I have a couple of these which are no longer needed as we replaced them with blue tooth ones (they are cheap single din ones but worked fine).

Hi, I don't want to rain on your parade but the inlet manifold is part of the head casting. If you're having reliability problems with the existing carb try putting a HIF6 or HIF7 on, they're a lot more reliable.

The later 'Weslake' head from the 3 litre has a seperate inlet manifold, and is a straight swop onto the 2.6, there was also a twin carb head available for them (I think for one of the higher powered variants) which is again a straight swop.
Both types are in the genuinely rather than ebay rare categories though.

Hi, They're quite an efficient engine for their type and don't really respond to better fueling. Although the 105R, 105S and 110 were fitted with twin carbs and had increases of power over previous model most of it was from increased compression ratio's as better fuel became available. Plus of course the Weslake head flowed better. They did test a 3 litre P5 engine with three carbs it did make for a very smooth engine, they could stand a coin on edge on the running engine, but it didn't produce enough increase of power to be worth the cost.

Ignoring the flat tyre, the arch gap on these p4's stock is huge, so as we all know, it had to be hit with the stick. So it was out with the suspension, which aside from two bolts all came apart remarkably easily Then came the chop - in hindsight perhaps a touch too much, but hey ho , it still rolls and turns Then back together and back on the ground to see how low I'd gone - answer LOW! Looks meaner from the front now, and has a fairly impressive rake, I think the back will need to come down too, I've not seen it out of the garage yet to see how far though. Elsewhere on the car I've started to smooth the bootlid after a bit of help form Dez to knock in the high spots starting to get somewhere with it now I think. cheers for looking.
