"I use a single plate paddle clutch in my 1uz and that will judder if you don't match the RPM correctly
oddly it's worse in reverse "
Does yours judder regardless of what gear or road speed. Mine does it in first and reverse. You have to rev it to make it pull away smoothly, 2-3000 rpm you feel a right prat. If you don't rev it it feel like the back end going to throw its self.
It's got CV joints and the engine solid, it seems more like its the back end. But that means nothing.
Its an odd one as it only happens when going very slow or pulling off. When you floor it or the boost comes on there's not an issue.
Hopefully, ill get the chance to change the, gearbox, friction plates, flywheel and gearbox mounts. Then i hope the problem goes away.

No on mine once the clutch is engaged no more judder it only does it if I don't have enough rev's
So it sounds like you have a different problem

Sounds similar, It was so bad the fist time i took it out and stopped for petrol, thought the prop had come loose.
Might be just one of those things you have to master and live with.
Trying to load it onto a trailer the other day was different, it spun the wheels, launched in to the trailer and threw the ramps 50m down the road.

With the gearbox adaptor plate fully machined, new yoke, old R 154 box out of the car and the bell housing fitted the trail fit of the gearbox will hopefully start next week.
Thing is the new box is about 7"/180mm longer than the old one plus the yokes are different, so the prop will need altering.
When i had the prop made they took ages, the price doubled and its not made to the spec and exact length asked for.
Does anyone know of a decent company who can alter the prop. Preferably in Devon as I could take it rather than post. There's lots of companies out there but not sure who's good, does a good job and is reliable.

The prop and clutch are being machined to fit. The new fly wheel looks too good to be hidden out of sight. Its even lighter than the old one which will let it spin up quicker but moving off from a standstill will be worse. Having said that i think first gear on the T56 is lower that the r154. The adaptor plate only needs the holes for the release being to be tapped. The plate fits fine and doesn't need any special spigot bearing for the t56 input shaft to 1uz engine. Unlike all the others. So if anyone is thinning of the T56 to 1uz I have the CAD program or i can supply the finished item. The T56 is a bigger box so the transmission tunnel had to be chopped, still have to make another one.

A month gone by and it's still on axle stands. Making it all fit is an issue plus the clutch plates came back wrong so that delayed the mock up by a couple of weeks.

Flywheel and the clutch fitted. With the bell housing/release bearing test fitted to check for leak and operation. It still fighting as i couldnt get a good pedal. Either ive overlooked something stupid or the master cylinder has wrapped it's tits in.

Fantastic work and thread , out of interest how did you find the handling is on 18" wheels as all I hear is any thing over 15" is not good for the handling due the the large amount of camber Change the rear suspension arms create through there travel radios , I would love to fit a set of Rm2 wheels from image but I'm yet to find someone who has any experience with 18" on a stag Many thanks Phil

Yep, you will get an air pocket otherwise = spongy pedal.

Ended up getting a new master cylinder Its still was deifying Pascals Law. There was loads of measurement for the clutch from the release bearing. From 0.06 " to 0.25". I ended up going with 1/8" and it worked. As for the 18" wheels they are fine. The handling is good far better than standard. AS long as the car is set up right theres no issues having bigger wheels. It just improves the handling, It more of an old wives tale that the Stag isn't any good with large rims. Everyone that says it has never had anything other than standard wheels fitted so how would they know. They don't like change or to be proved wrong. I was told that they wouldn't fit and the handling would be bad and ride would be bone shattering. It just proves don't believe anyone who hasn't tried it.

All back together..................but theres a noise. I think one of the clutch plates isn't fully engaged on the gearbox input shaft.
So the gearbox has been off and back on again. but new custom, custom, flywheel needs to be ordered. The summer will be over by the time its done.
Got some new toys though, exhaust cutouts. The car goes from subtle to harsh best of both.

New flywheel ordered so the new airlift will have to wait. Unless that is anyone wants a new unused 1uzfe TTV 184 mm (or 7 1/4" ) Race Supalite flywheel that weighs 3.5 Kg. The one thats in the pictures above.
