many moons ago, when me and the mrs 1st moved in together we got a kitten, who slept upstairs with us for all of 2 nights because his purr was so loud it would keep us awake.
we then got a 2nd kitten a year later, and she can't be left upstairs at night either because she does that annoying kneeding thing with her front paws, which is really annoying on your chest at 3 in the morning.
10 yrs later (both cats still going strong) we now have an 18 month old border collie, who does sleep upstairs with us and is quiet as a mouse!

I feel I must clarify. Seeing as I was not at all clear the first time I was'nt trying to infer that the nuns inability to foresee, plan or follow through is evil per se. Merely that they ALWAYS have someone to blame things on

I don't get why people allow their cats to stay inside at night. If any creature is going to find a dry place to sleep it is a cat.

I suppose if you kept them inside they wouldn't bring you live mice at 3am like mine does. There seems to be a 3am repetition here...

ERROR : NEED MODERATOR ACTION : TOO MUCH CAT DISCUSSION : HELP! Ian - Maybe if you showed us what you got up to with your dolly at playtime it would provide a suitable distraction from the cats!

My mates cat used to bring in baby rabbits. Just to play with. First time they went to the U.S. & left next door looking after the house they had to block the cat flap up as they'd found 5 rabbits hopping all over the place. I stayed one night & woke up to hear a scratching, thought it was a rat in loft. turned out to be a rabbit under the bed.

..... we now have an 18 month old border collie, who does sleep upstairs with us and is quiet as a mouse! Terrified of the cats I recon He's not too bad, just wanted to play with them at 1st, until their claws came out, still has a sniff every time they pass each other. I think we'd class it as 'cautiously wary', rather than terrified

I feel I must clarify. Seeing as I was not at all clear the first time I was'nt trying to infer that the nuns inability to foresee, plan or follow through is evil per se. Merely that they ALWAYS have someone to blame things on I reckon either interpretation is valid and the nett result is certainly the same! Oh, and her 9-11 finished at 12. Close! ERROR : NEED MODERATOR ACTION : TOO MUCH CAT DISCUSSION : HELP! You'll note that given my recent feline history, I'm staying well away from the subject. 😊 I'll stick to my dogs, I'm better at them. Getting a bit fed up. Time was, this client would give you a call, tell you what he wanted, you wap a short note with scope, dates and price and receive an appointment letter by return of email. Now they've appointed a procurement guy who, not having a clue, can't write a scope. This means that we've gone in with what I know the client actually needs but it appears that our rivals haven't. So realising that he's cocked up, he's had to go back to them to include x,y and z in their tenders as well, so he can (and I hate this phrase) "compare apples with apples". I reckon we'll win anyway but it's a delay I don't need just this second. Next time I have a beer with his boss, I'm going to recommend he is replaced with a pot dog! It's more incompetent in the Philippines!

I had a cat called Ballbags. Looked a lot like Postman Pat's cat. He moved house with me six times and lasted longer than my first marriage.

Ho, ho, ho. Merry Day of the Dead to you all. Yes, today's the day everyone troops down the cemetery to spend time with those who have already passed over the veil. I used to go with Madam when she went to the old part of Manila North Cemetery, as it's a fascinating place, but she only goes to see her Old Man now who's in a modern apartment block which holds little interest. Besides, dogs aren't allowed (squatters, yes - dogs, no) so someone has to stay and watch the Shi Tzu don't they? There's no bar either. It also doesn't help when you are trying to get an answer from a potential client. Wednesday was All Saints Day and a national holiday and, this year, they made the Tuesday one as well, for some inexplicable reason. so, with Monday and Friday really the only working days, most take them off as well. Good, innit? The only way you'll contact anyone this week is via Ouija board. E-mails are ignored. Anyway, Madam was up and doing at 8am this morning, announcing they wanted an early(?) start. they left at 1pm which, in the Philippines is as close to early as you'll get. Yesterday was spent chasing floods as we had a good downpour. Nothing showing on our street Drown-o-Meter, but it was top of wheel depth outside Manila Town Hall. Ironic really to know that one of the worst bits for flooding is right outside the place where those who should be doing something about it work(?)! Anyway, managed to blast past a taxi with the driver's window down as he was having a smoke. Very satisfying! I can't put this in the "Dogs in cars" thread as it doesn't qualify, so have "Dogs near a car" instead. Two out of three of the herd. My Spud and Lola. And the other one, but separate, her Toppy... I know you've seen it before, but this was just after he survived two doses of parvo, tough little barsteward, so worth another view!

Maybe they planned the city hall that way, so they'd have more days off? "Sorry, was going to go in and vote yes on stormwater works to stop the flooding on main street, but I couldn't get down main street to work on account of it being flooded."

I can only imagine how frustrating the delays must be.

Is there an alternative you can threaten to (/actually) move the girls to? Or are they all as staggeringly incompetent? Sorry, missed this one. Strangely, when they do bother to open for educational purposes, they actually do a pretty damn good job. She's really happy there and does well so I'd be loath to move her just for the sake of my blood pressure. The things we do, eh? Maybe they planned the city hall that way, so they'd have more days off? "Sorry, was going to go in and vote yes on stormwater works to stop the flooding on main street, but I couldn't get down main street to work on account of it being flooded." You must have lived here in a past life. That's just the sort of logic that would get used! I can only imagine how frustrating the delays must be. And it doesn't get better. The job I don't really want but would have to take if it comes along first is now over a month late starting. I found out last evening that there may be a further delay due to the upcoming ASEAN conference (which seem to be one a week recently!), although how a conference held over 100kms away affects some little lowlife in the Department of Transport remains beyond me. Anyway, sitting by my phone all day today, as hoping for some GOOD news for a change!
