sorry to bring it up but any news on the other bottle opener? That's okay... We do know she's enrolled in one of Tondo's less salubrious schools (it's cheap) but we also know she's often seen out and about in the early hours of the morning, so it looks like she's gone nocturnal like so many of the Tondo deadbeats she calls friends and it kinda seems like education isn't a top priority any more. I do know that she set up a meeting with Tania a few weeks ago, which caused quite a stir, then never showed up. Tania's not mentioned her name since and it's like Jey-Ann has ceased to exist in her mind. She now just gets on with her own life. Probably for the best really. I dunno.  Other than that, I know little. What contact I did have seems to have dried up and messages are ignored, so apart from the above, everything we get is rumour, and Philippine Whispers make Chinese ones look like verbatim reporting!  I've always suspected that there's more than meets the eye here, but I just can't get to the bottom of it and, if I don't see Jey-Ann to talk to, I probably never will. All we can do (and have done) is let her know we are still here, should she need us. The rest is up to her.  On another, more familiar note, Tania, having just returned to school after two weeks holiday, will be off all next week as well due to the ASEAN conference (they call them summits, but this seems a bit strong when nothing seems to happen). I can only assume this is so one of the kids can't take a bead on a certain Mr D Trump from the top floor of the school as he drives to the embassy. Yup, another Walang Pasok! The problem is they've had so many, we're getting to the stage where she'll have to start going in on a Saturday as the school tries to claw back some days.  |

Sad to hear George, would not want to be in your position. Just crack on, nowt else you can do really. What news on P38 - no breakdowns recently? Wash your mouth out! Last 'breakdown' was the gungy plug on the cam position sensor. Since then, as reported, we've cleaned up the inside of the headlights and spots then fitted a new track control arm along with TREs. No problems with her at all at the moment. That'll put the kibosh on things!  So now you know pitifully little, just like me! Really enjoying the Malta thread at the moment. |

That'll put the kibosh on things! And it did! Just done the school run (I know, I know, big 4x4 and school runs ) and was just coming home when a poxy Fortuner decided to stop for no apparent reason. I did the same, but obviously I did have a reason, the poxy Fortuner. Unfortunately, the sidecar behind me didn't bother. So that's another lens gone. Total so far:- Front bumper - motorbike cutting across pavement, using me as a brake Rear bumper x 2 - sidecars Inner LH lens - sidecar Outer LH lens - this morning's sidecar. I hate lens guards but I'm thinking seriously about them now! |

Lens guards on the school run in Chelsea unnecessary and pretentious, lensguards and bull bars on the he school run in manilla totaly justifiable, spilkes on said bull bars might improve the braking strategies of the locals.

Any idea if she's spayed? I can now answer this with total confidence. No! So that dates her at around six months or so and the situation is soon to be remedied. And you'll never guess what... Yup, Walang Pasok today! I reckon my Little Bottle Opener had been doing a rain dance and it's resulted in Tropical Depression Salome. |

The tanker's a bit too long for easy manoeuvring. You'd be forever picking bits out of the tyres. |

So what's a boy to do? Madam is visiting friends and Tania has gone to a sleepover. There's nowt on tele, which I don't watch, and if there was and I did, it's all in foreign anyway. Dogs been out and fed, so they are asleep. Meeting up with a guy off here tomorrow for a pint or so, therefore vital I get some rest. Only one answer - beer and pizza night! Beer in hand, pizza being delivered (eventually), so curl up with food, alcohol and a good book. Things may be curse word from time to time, but ya've got to make the best of things! Even if it does mean opening my own bottles. G'night. |

My P38 had been brought up to 'Chelsea' spec at some point in its life, Light guards, side steps and an 'A' bar.
Thankfully the 'A'bar had been removed by the helpfull "Specialists" that I rescued it from (about the only usefull thing they did). I had asked them to sling it in the boot with a view to sticking it on ebay but they forgot to include it (along with the CD cartridge for the multi-changer in the boot!).
The light guards don't look too bad to me and seem to have helped diguise the vehicles age a bit. Good thing to as if I removed them I'd be left with four neet holes in the bodywork around each lense.
Sidesteps are totally useless as if you were to try to use them you'd just end up tying your legs in knots and tripping ove the sill! But they are also rather well secured to the chassis out-riggers with a lot of rusty siezed looking bolts and at the end of the day I have more pressing jobs to worry about, particularly as I have two Scimitars that I have neglected all summer!
I have invested in a front and rear dashcam for it though (£35 from eBay, hard wired in and hidden up in front of the rearview mirror) in the hope that I'll never need it. Sharp protrusions tend to fail the MoT here so need to take a softer approach.
Sorry to hear about the eldest bottle opener, but if she knows you are still there then at least you know she knows she has that option.

Nice to see you back Smiler! Mine apparently had an a-bar but I never saw it and it saved me removing it. I've also got sidesteps (with non-rusty bolts ) but given the average height of most of my passengers, I suppose they ought to stay. Easier than crampons! I really do dislike light guards but I'm struggling to see an alternative (apart from plating over the holes and doing away with lights altogether!) and given that the pedal sidecars only have a lump of rubber pressing on the rear tyre as a "brake", which the rider can't apply until the pedals are in the right position to get his foot on the lever, this problem isn't going to go away anytime soon. Also given that most of my driving is done in heavily sidecar infested areas, it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet at some point. Anyway, met up with a UK forum member yesterday, who's here on holiday with a mate. Went to pick them up from their hotel yesterday, which is in the middle of the ASEAN delegate circle. Every car entering was being stopped by police and thoroughly searched inside and underneath. I pull up, get smiled at, bollards moved and through. Obviously I don't look like a deranged political killer. Either that or they don't drive Range Rovers. A relief either way. So we passed a few pleasant hours doing damage to someones beer stock and intend to do the same again today. Well, it is Sunday, after all. |

This report comes live to you from the world famous LA Cafe in Malate. I've only been here five minutes and have already been hit up by two of the oldest "good time girls" on the planet. Fortunately the first mention of a Filipina missus soon cools what little ardour they can muster. Hopefully when the two guys arrive, we'll have safety in numbers!
Just to keep the spirit of this forum section, one or two look like they've been modified as well. And not for the better if you ask me!
