Retro Rides Gathering 2014 is taking place at Shelsley Walsh in Worcestershire, Post code : WR6 6RP Date : Sunday 31st August What to expect : The usual first rate show from the Retro Rides team, guest cars to blow your mind (and your ear drums occasionally), club stands as far as the eye can see, retro parking for all those cool enough to turn up in their retros, RWYB hillclimb for those that want to have a go at one of the most intense hillclimbs in the country. It really is very very good. This year we'll be blowing your minds with our guest cars for a start, then there is the range of clubs, the diversity of the show, the lovely venue, the historic lovely venue even, the lunatics heading up the hill, trade stands, chilled atmosphere, good times, just pure good times. Can I book a club stand? YES here : retroridesgathering.com/club-stands/www.retroridesgathering.com for a nice count down, and later in the year pictures of our guest cars and more info on everything. Tell your friends, it is going to be proper good. Want to know something else, then drop a reply in below and ask away. Quick note no you can't bring a Dog or any other pet, sorry, motorsport venue, motorsport venue rules.

Price will be per person, please can we camp from Friday?
All this is very exciting. Different car for me this year and the cider of grim death will have had another year to "improve"

So, sorry if I'm being a bit thick...it's £30 a person to camp? That seems a little steep to me.

Yes it is £30 per person to camp for the weekend from the Friday to the Sunday and includes entry into the show. Show entry is £10 per person on the Sunday if you only do it as a day show.. or it is £7.50 in advance for a Day ticket. I've been updating the Retro Rides calendar this weekend and The Gathering is one of the cheapest shows on the calendar. There are shows that cost almost as much as our weekend tickets to get in for the day.

Wait..... there was a family area last year? Where was this? Out of interest was it away from the fires 5 feet away from cars and tents,, cars sliding around everywhere others dragging kids around and someone crashing a ride on mower type item into a big bmw thingy in the early hours Sunday morning?

Yes, it was in a field adjacent to the main camping field.
Camping at RR Gathering is pretty much like camping at any car show, in fact it is a fair bit more chilled than most car events. I'm sorry you had a bad time at the show.

Wouldn't say bad time not by a long shot more a surprising time lol. Knowing theres options of different fields only makes things even better as a whole! Its the only show ive been to like that though to be fair, most stopped fires and enforced speed limits etc all that elf and safety lark! Cheers for the reply

Ahhh we try and treat our campers like adults and hope for the most part they behave like it.. usually they are pretty good.
We're still working out the camp site for this year's event.

yes there were some people that were a little spirited in the campsite but i do a lot of car shows/race meets and if anyone thought it was rowdy or dangerous there compared to other car shows then they must only frequent flat cap classic car/owners club shows were everybody is in bed by 7:00 as the gathering is about one of the best self regulated meets i have attended though it would be nice if people didn't feel the need to rev the tits out of there cars after 10pm out of respect of the people who live near the event if nothing else .

Tar Dave We're still ironing out the details of the hill at the moment. I think we're likely to go for X amount of runs this year, firstly to deal with the problems we had last year in the afternoon session and secondly because we fear if people get a high number of runs up the hill they may become a little over confident. Yup turning up on the day and registering is the main way of doing things. We have talked about selling a small portion of the runs before the event in order to make the morning less of a mad scramble for the paddock, but I'm not convinced we've got that idea right yet (as I say, we're still discussing a bunch of things). Everything that is going on the hill will be from the Club and Retro Parking field, although we are saying no post-2000 cars and will be encouraging clubs to bring as much pre-95 as possible (based on feedback from last year). Limited runs are likely at the moment, but as I say it is all under discussion right now

For the hillclimb will the morning and afternoon sessions be signed up in the morning? or will there be two sign on times?
Personally i want to run up the hill in the afternoon so i can have the car on the clubstand for most of the day and go round the show in the morning. No chance of a few runs on Saturday for people who are camping?
