Yo guys. On Sunday my speedo stopped working and yesterday my front brake cable snapped (on the MZ). So I figured I really ought to do something about it. So, I went to the slightly earlier spares MZ. Pinched the speedo cable and front brake cable off that. Came back, and have got the front wheel off of mine and got the old cable out of the way, but the one from the spares bike is shorter and doesn't fit! grr. The speedo cable screws into the rear chain enclosure, but the curse word won't undo so I'm stuck with the both of them. Its currently in the street minus a front wheel while I came inside for something to eat. The big problem is what with it being my only mode of transport, I'm stuck at home. Annoyed. And, this morning my sister managed to reverse the Rapid into a wall. Thankfully it was only at low speed, but I was in the passenger seat and could see it coming. Not good. Damaged appears to be just a slightly bent bumper - I hope thats all it is... Anyway. I'm bored and annoyed and missing a perfect riding day so I thought I'd share my rant.

;)All part of repairing vehicles I'm afraid, it's just the same with cars at times. To be fair it's not just retros though, newer stuff is more often than not an even bigger PITA! Are you able to obtain the correct brake cable? Why won't the speedo cable undo..is it siezed/rusted? Take a pic, we may be able to suggest something to help.
Shame about the knock in the Rapid, though TBH they are pretty tough at the back. If it was only done at parking speed then I doubt there'll be any more damage than a marked bumper.

in the end...me and my dad got the brake cable in. had to push the brakes in on the hubs while putting the cable into the lever sorta thing.
the cable was just seized sorta thing. my dad got this clamp sorta thing on it and it came off. annoyingly, the speedo cable came off the spares bike so easily.
to do on the bike.
-new chain -new cables
hmm.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I hate it when this happens (pretty much everytime I touch a car!!)
And in regards to the reversing of Rapid into wall. Least you had a bumper. Think what would have happened if it had bee de-bumpered!!

Ha. Just driving the Skoda is a test! lols
my sister was taking me to work last night at 10pm. It was dark and foggy. So, its starts, but all the windows are misty so we reverse with the heads out the window trick while I put all the heaters and heated rear window on. At the top of the street I jump out and turn the choke cable off (it keeps falling out of the adjustor so you have to do it manually!) And then it took a good 4 miles with sunroof/windows open to clear the windscreen - but I did get the heater working. Lol. It was far too funny. ;D So, there are rewards for our "hard" work.

Are the carpets damp in your car? Is there a water leak? Just wondering why it should get so misted up and take so long for the demister, HRW ect. to clear it?
