Now the plan when I sold the RS1600i was to not buy anything until the mini was painted but then I brought the 3dr. So I have put a divider in the garage to keep the mess out of the end where the 3dr is. When closed it is fairly good and I don't think there will be anything getting past it. So with that all done I could get on with a bit more cleaning off the paint. I have also cut the battery box off but need to get a couple of spotweld drills to finish that job off.

hi phil, looks like you've got your hands full... Hi Roger you swopped the RS Turbo for a Golf GTI then? As for having my hands full I would be bored if I had nothing cooking in the garage.

Looking forward to seeing another amazing Mini put together with your attention to detail! Thanks. I just hope I don't loose my mojo and sell it part finished. I was cutting the sill off Monday evening and have been up the eye infirmary everyday since so am already wondering what I am doing. A couple of years back I brought a 1981 3 owner beige mini city that had all its original panels inc A panels and I ended up doing a few mechanical jobs on it 12 months MOT and sold it. It would have made a good concours car. But this current shell is good and is a GT which won't hurt the value. You still got the Supercharged Clubman Est?

well sold the rs turbo as i was not 100% happy with it. seemed to have a bit of a chequered past. always wanted either a mk2 golf or 205 gti when i was a kid. came across this from a chap i used to work at ford with many years ago. he still worked for a ford dealership,he bought this off a girl about 5 years ago as a grey 1.3 gl. then painted it radiant red/panther black, uprated the brakes and suspension and stuck a 2.0 16v in it. and then lost interest. love the look of the cosworth (best colour) my mate at work has a white one you may of seen at four ashes.

That explains why I aint seen your RS Turbo then, I was keeping a look out for it. When I first noticed the avtar pic I thought it was the one off the corner house by Tyretraders. As for the Cosworth I always wanted one. I have only been out in it once yet and have a list of jobs to do on it. Its a good job the mini is in bits else the Sierra would be having it. There is a few of them that go up the 4 ashes, common really aren't they.lol.

Yeah sounds like it would have made a great concours car but as you said, being a GT it's worth saving as it won't be long before there aren't many left! As for my Estate, it's still going strong but is currently off the road awaiting a new engine rebuild, this time with a Weber feeding the blower. If I'm honest, it's starting to look a little tatty compared with how it used to be but I'm just really looking forward to being able to get out and drive it again. Maybe it'll have bodywork next year (or the year after!).

bookmarked ! looking forward to the updates . Thanks. I only have a small one for today. I picked these wheels up a few weeks back as I think they are the best looking 10" minilight style wheel ever and I had them on my first mini back in 96 when I was 17. I will get them powder coated when I take the subframes in.

Blimey, that Italian Job didn't stand a chance! Will be watching this with interest. Lol it was an Insurance write off that I brought which had been in a ditch and was well out of shape. It came with no logbook so it was never going to see the road again and that is not mentioning the rust problems it had.

How many miles did you get out of your last engine with the charger on it?

Sounds ideal - certainly wasn't criticising, if anything the transition from complete looking car to devastated ruined shell in your photos is comical!

Your right I hadn't noticed the order was mixed up tbh. After we had cut the shell up we put it in the back of my mates Transit with 2 scrap suframes and got £24 quid for the lot at the local weighbridge.

How many miles did you get out of your last engine with the charger on it? I got a little over 20k miles on it but most people get a lot less than that! Really depends on how you use it as to whether you can justify it or not. As to whether it's worth it or not, well I'm confident that I'll always have at least one supercharged one around as the noise is just so addictive!

Interesting I will see when it comes to the engine which direction I want to go.

Little update. I got the remainding part of the battery tray off and the outer sill, I have put a little zinc primer on where I am not going to be able to paint after the panels are fitted.. This top half is nearly ready for welding.

Always had a soft spot for Mini's. My first car was a 1962 Mini Minor 850 (4074 KR) complete with 1300 GT engine and Cosmic alloys. I didn't understand why it wouldn't start on the key, till my Dad pointed out the floor mounted starter! Doh! I'll be watching this with interest.
