Long time with no updates.
Very little progress on the mini due to a new space problem! Even with the shed I am even tighter on space now. I previously mentioned my brother wanted to sell his Porsche but the key wouldn't go in the ignition and it was parked in his garage where the drivers door was up the wall which made acces difficult, this was made worse as the car thought the ignition was on and he couldn't lock it. Now his drive slopes away from the garage so if we pushed it out it was outside until fixed which my brother would not entertain. So I said hire a trailer and we will bring it to mine to fix. He never did this and it just sat in the garage broken. He had not renewed the insurance and the MOT had run out again. So after 14 months or so of no action he announced that he had been in contact with a well known auction house to sell it and was advised he had to deliver it and collect it if it didn't sell. He totalled up trailer hire and entry fees etc and decided to list it on ebay at what he was likely to achieve at auction after costs as he was sick of the sight of it in his garage after approximately 11 years of ownership. So as he was running this by me before pulling the pin on his plan I asked a few questions about his reasoning and we agreed I would give him the ebay price and when I sell I will split any profit with him. So I now own a 1998. Porsche Boxster 2.5 with just shy of 52k on the clock.
I managed to hire a trailer and use the father in laws disco for towing duties and got it recovered to my house.
After a bit of googling I purchased an ignition switch without investigating as it was cheap and it took me about an hour to change which resulted in a running car which passed the MOT the next day. I took it to a Curborough breakfast meet to take the above pictures and it drives nice but I have a few service type jobs to carry out before selling it. Summer is best for selling so it is causing me a space problem until then.
While all this was going on we bought a caravan which needed removing from the pitch it had been on since covid before the end of October, so that is now blocking the drive just to make my access/storage even more difficult. Plan is do a few mods/improvements and get that into a storage place.
