Hey all, Thought I'd update this. I sold the 205 on 11/12/13 and bought the following a couple of days later... These photos were taken today after a thorough 2 day cleaning session! 29-12-13 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 006 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 007 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 009 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Loads of space in the back... 29-12-13 010 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 012 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 013 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 29-12-13 015 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Link to full album...When I got it had the teardrop alloys on it but a week later I put these GTA wheels on it. I love it, yes, I'm driving a car I love again!

Really happy with this GTV, it's a bloody lot of car for the money! Kind of wish it was a different colour though personally, Silver's a bit boring but the interior!!! That's a different story! Interior 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr The shorty stubby gear stick is a pleasure to use

Nice Alfa, that interior is stunning , need to watch the cam belts on the motor though, there is a main belt and a balancer shaft belt, two lots of tensioners and idlers, best to do the water pump at the same time so quite an involved expensive job, one of the reasons i sold my 155 i'm ashamed to say as it was due to be done

The belt change frequency is definitely a bit of a put off of these motors, this one was done in September 2012 so not due for bloody ages _________________ I fitted some replacement front door speakers today as it was a nice day and thankfully it was possible to get access to the broken check strap with the speaker removed so that was swapped over too. Turned out the brackets that held it to the door had completely snapped, quite surprised really... I got the speakers cheap, they're nothing special but MUCH better than before. £9.89 delivered new off eBay plus £9.99 for a fitting kit so I didn't have to cut any holes and the original speaker covers fit too which is good! Mind, these new speakers have shown how bad the rear ones are! Still not a match on the system that was in the C70 Obviously I had to go for a drive to test them out.... Took a couple of little photos, haven't washed it for 2 weeks, that might change tomorrow if weather permits! 11-01-13 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 11-01-13 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 11-01-13 003 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr I have ordered a new mirror, absolute bargain at £8.50, should arrive soon. I ordered some new plates yesterday as I'm sure you've noticed, the text on my current plates is to the right? WTF is that all about?! I've also gone ebay crazy with cheap LED lights (don't waste your time on those ones that have a single diode in glass, they're curse word! That's what's in the sidelight currently...), I put some 25 SMD T10 bulbs in the puddle lights and a 16 SMD Festoon bulb in the courtesy light, very nice. Also replaced the armrest cover, might provide some pics soon Fitted a HID kit, 6000K. Got some replacement fog lights as one of the old units was corroded inside and didn't work, the other had melted! Stupid Alfa mounted the bulb poorly and if you leave the fog lights on when you're stationary they melt and drop out through the bumper! The replacements are of course perfect and now I'm able to say I have an Alfa where everything work, well except the reverse lights lol 10-01-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Here are a couple of pics when I first had it on its' original wheels... 14-12-13 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 14-12-13 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

Looks great on those teledials I had a twinspark GTV a little while ago, I spent my hole ownership complaining about it, then spent more time reminiscing about it since I sold it than any other car! haha. So many nice little design features, the dashboard with aux gauges in the centre console is lovely. I also like the sun visors, curved to match the roof line, look lovely folded up, fold them down and there are big gaps that let the sun through, haha. I changed the cam belt on mine myself, was no worse than any other cam belt. It's the quad cam v6s that are a cam belt nightmare

Random photo half way between Brecon and Merthyr... 14-01-14 003 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr While fitting the new plates I had to think how smart these look without one up front, half tempted to move somewhere where driving round like this was legal 16-01-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 24-01-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr I don't ever stop loving sitting here... 27-01-14 003 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr The rocker cover gasket was leaking from the front onto the exhaust manifold so I replaced that yesterday. Easy, especially on these! Cleaned everything up a bit while the bonnet was open. 02-02-14 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr And finally, I put the £8.50 mirror on today 03-02-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr I do love this car but I do hear the V70 parked behind it calling my name, I'm currently selling off my collection of Minichamps Models to build a modification fund for it. I haven't spoken much about that car on here but I will soon I think Yes, I know it's not at all retro but then neither is this lol So if you couldn't guess I'll be putting this up for sale soon, just need to sort a few things first before I'd be happy to sell it. Ciao for now!

So I put the car up for sale the other week and it sold so I no longer have a car on the road. This GTV has been great and I'm currently weighing up my options, buy another car or fix up the V70? So yeah, following on from where I left off. The GTV sold on the 08/03 and I bought a glorious 166 V6 on 09/03. Best colour, nicest wheels, factory lowered and factory bodykit. It was all going well until the thing started to kill itself yesterday. Just put fuel in it yesterday afternoon, about a mile later the transmission light started flashing, then the battery light came on and a huge screeching from the driver's front. Turned around and went home. Turned the car off and started it again to hear the bottom end starting to give up and then when I got out of the car there was a pool of brake fluid under the rear of the car. Started it this morning and it's puffing out blue smoke, the gearbox is beeping like mad when you put it in gear and a warning about the air conditioning came up on the dash. How can so many thing all go wrong at once? At least I haven't spent any money on the car so less to lose and I have no choice but to break the car. Boy it's going to hurt as I had fallen for this car so hard, oh well... The last shot of the Alfa on the road. 14-03-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr All this means that I'm forced to put my V70 on the road as I need the place where it is to break the Alfa, I may add the odd post now and again...

Fracking hell that 166 is gorgeous! I've never seen one in that colour, wheel, ride height combo! I also love the OCD touch of the side windows being down level with each other ....or was that part of the party of failure that's killed it?

Haha, no that was intentional, the OCD is strong with this one! Not doing anything with the Alfa now, it's just going on a SORN and it can be something pretty to gaze at while doing the washing up It's too gorgeous to break (and too low to get a jack under!), it'll sit! Putting the V70 back on the road, started it today for the first time in 17 months I think, absolutely no hesitation after some fresh fuel and a new battery plus cranking it over with the king lead off. I forgot how awesome these Volvo 5pots sound, especially with chav tat bolted onto it! I'm happy but as I've got money tied up in the Alfa I won't be able to afford to do anything interesting with the V70 for a while again Here's a pic... Shame about the big 166, when reading i was going to suggest the battery till i got to the brake fluid and bottom end noise I've ran a couple of 7 series beemers and those go bat curse word crazy if the battey is duff (even if it still starts the car), had a scare with my 750 the other week, short drive, engine and gearbox failsafe mode flashed up, car would loose all power, had to stop and restart the engine a couple of times (re-boot the ECU's), got it home, charged the battery and it's been fine since.

I looooove the 166, when I say 'bottom end giving up' I think I might of hastily assumed the worst there. The next day I started the car for a warning on the dash about the air con so it all adds up to spell a failing idler or tensioner on the auxiliary belt! The belts are overdue, oh well, it can sit for a while as I enjoy the V70 for the time being. Nowhere near as nice to drive or look at but it means a lot to me as I inherited it when I was just 15 off me old man

The alternator was the definite cause of the 166's strike, it's just sat on the drive now... The Volvo passed its MOT late March, failed on lower ball joints both sides, not bad considering it had been sat for 2 years . Started first time after a new battery and some fuel, not a problem with the engine on this beast . Sounds fab but it felt slow initially with its little turbo and 4 speed auto but after driving a Honda Jazz the other day this feels like a rocket ship again lol Good deal on the insurance (21 with 4 years no claims plus aunt and uncle named drivers, £295! Beat that you older lot ), all taxed and legal Last weekend me and a friend gave the motor a good clean up, more details here... Looks great Not much to share, done 500 miles or so with it now, little vibration coming through the car due to a failed engine mount I presume, the Lambda light comes on too (need to buy a code reader me thinks!). Anyway, too much rambling, here is how the car looks now... 13-04-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 13-04-14 005 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 13-04-14 007 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr 13-04-14 008 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Need to do something with the rear bumper. Someone has offered to lend me a DA polisher so hopefully it'll look even better soon I've got 2 different sets of wheels for it including some BBS split rims, just waiting to do something with them. Plus, of course I need to save a great old lump for a suspension overhaul Choi!

Loving the Volvo, looks very smart. I had a v70 in this colour but no where near as good condition but sounded sweet with homemade exhaust. Good work!
Shame about the 166, I don't usually like curvy cars but that thing just looks sooooo right.

Right, so the rear bumper has ruined paint on the top as I put a cover on it when I had it painted 3 years ago. I'm too tight to repaint it so what to do? Yes wrap it! 05-05-14 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Love it or hate it, you certainly don't expect it when you walk around the car and that is exactly the point! I just don't take things too seriously. Them lot on Volvo Owners Forum love it lol 05-05-14 004 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr Anyway, these wheels will be going on it soon. I've polished the lips up, took an age but they look good Propus 006 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr
