Gordon Bennett. And I'm feeling sorry for myself 'cos I've bashed my thumb and skinned my knuckle. Look after yourself old chap. Thanks James. Yesterday was weird and I was putting it down to the antibiotics, but I found I couldn't concentrate on anything for more than a few moments at a time. Book? Two pages. Tele? around three minutes (and it was a quite interesting program about that bit of wing they've found) . Nothing could hold my attention. Tried to cook some food and completely forgot about it until that smell. Still on the tablets, but today I'm fine and feel tons better. Maybe the infection? Peculiar and not very pleasant. Hope you're okay. Boiled water and sea salt - 1tsp salt to 1pint of water. Let it cool to 'hot bath' temperature and then decant into a mug so you can press it against the wound and cover it completely allowing it to soak for five minutes twice a day. *n As I write, it's having its first soak of the day in a bucket of salt water Starting to feel like a bloody mermaid (although where I get one of those this time of day...) Get well soon George..... Cheers buddy. It's actually a lot better this morning with much reduced swelling. Bataan next weekend? Hope so and will assess on Wednesday. Superglue will hold it shut long enough to heal. I'd thought about that, but I can't close the skin up. It looks like it'll heal (eventually) from the inside out. Should leave a nice little scar. Looks ugly. Trading up to Kevlar socks now? A gentleman does not wear socks with flip-flops. Although perhaps next time I'm doing anything like this I could wear them with my toecaps?

Superglue will hold it shut long enough to heal. Indeed! Chefs use it to cure nasty knife cuts!

I had a similar injury once and a Singaporean doctor prescribed me antibiotics in powder form which was then to be applied over the infected area for five days or so, a few times a day, and it healed up very quickly.
Tablet antibiotics sound odd for an open wound... then again I'm no doctor!!!

Ah, but remember, Singapore doctors have probably been to doctor school and everything, as opposed to getting a certificate free with 6 Jollibee Big Champs and fries!

On the mend again thanks. Now the colour of well-hung steak so just got to keep the flies away. Starting to understand how a cow-pat feels Oh, how's the Cobra coming along?

Makes sense but I obviously don't qualify as a large animal here.

Hmm, a thought indeed.
Problem is that I was stood a while back with the eldest bottle opener on the balcony, both silently contemplating the shimmering waters of Manila Bay, when she asked me in all seriousness, "Daddy George, are mermaids real?" to which I responded gently, "Not any more Darling. The sharks ate them all."
If I then happened to go and employ a load it would lower my credibility as the font of all knowledge in her eyes although, to be fair, that probably wouldn't be far!
How do mermaids wear panties anyway?

If you're REALLY curious about that, I can arrange a small video tutorial from Japan I saw recently... But to be honest, Many Many Mermaids NO Panties Bar would probably be a better seller, anyway?

That's probably the oldtimers catching up with you. I'll put that comment down to the impetuousness of youth! Mermaids would probably wear panties the same way that snake ladies do. If you're REALLY curious about that, I can arrange a small video tutorial from Japan I saw recently...
Thanks awfully, but if you don't mind, I'll skip this time
But to be honest, Many Many Mermaids NO Panties Bar would probably be a better seller, anyway? That's what was suggested by dodgerover, and that's indeed what it would be, my question as to how they would actually wear panties was merely idle curiosity.
In Range Rover News (shock, horror, probe) I went around to the local fiberglass supplier yesterday to see if I could, by any chance, purchase something to repair the cracks in the front bumper with along with the back since getting snotted by a sidecar the other week.
Turns out I can buy enough to repair every bumper in the Philippines. They only supply commercial quantities, not piddling little bits like I need and unsurprisingly, they didn't know anyone who did. Just as well, if the usual "Ah yes, Sir, you go such-and-such" had been the response, I'd have ignored it anyway, as they are never in existence when you fight your way there.
Think I may ask I'll get the driver to ask around a few of the motorbike places to see who does the fairing repairs.

Over here George, we can buy 'Bumper Stop' which is a rubberised filler paste that is suitable for fibreglass and such like. It mixes just like filler but is very flexible so ideal. Dries hard in black.
If you can't find, let me know and I will post you some.

Dries hard in black. If you can't find, let me know and I will post you some. Thanks for the kind offer, I've not seen that for sale here, But let's see how we get on with Plan A first, although I'll probably need some filler just to tidy up anyway. Then there's the issue of painting afterwards...Or more to the point, finding the paint! Ideally I was looking for fiberglass so I can reinforce the whole bumper as it, like all the plastics, has gone pretty brittle, so ideally a few layers of glass along the inside wouldn't go amiss. I've got our driver talking to motorbike repair shops to see if there's any joy, and I'm also going to get him down to Cavite where there are a few boat builders who may be able to help. As always, it comes down to hunt, hunt, hunt.

Any surfers round your way? Someone is bound to make their own boards, they'll have resin and matting and it'd probably only cost a VIP ticket to the Mermaid Bar opening night.....

Just make sure it's UV stablised ... it's the UV in sunlight that degrades the plastic's... and where you are I imagine the sunlight is a)quite strong and b)for prolonged periods of the day ...

Any surfers round your way? Someone is bound to make their own boards, they'll have resin and matting and it'd probably only cost a VIP ticket to the Mermaid Bar opening night..... Good thought and if the plan outlined below fails, I'll have a look, thanks. and where you are I imagine the sunlight is a)quite strong and b)for prolonged periods of the day ... Yup, that could just about sum the weather up! So there I was in that jewel in the Manila Riviera's CROWN that is Tondo yesterday, due to it being Madam's birthday over the weekend. This of course meant the purchase of a fatted pig which was duly dispatched in the street on Friday evening, ready to have culinary things done to it on Saturday. Of course, this has to be washed down with copious amounts of alcohol which meant that Saturday was a bit of a write-off. So, Sunday, and I'm looking at the house bike. No, not some slapper we keep in the corner for emergencies but a little Yamaha 125 thingy. This has just had a makeover by a mate of the drivers and, I have to say, they've made a rather sweet job of it with the yellow bits are now a fetching deep bronze. So chatting to Kuya, I enquire about his mate's fibreglassing skills. "Oh, he no good" he says with a refreshing honesty, "but his dad is brilliant." That's what we wanted to hear! So I'll have a run over there with the '38 for a chat with Daddy re bumpers and we'll see where we go from there.
