tsk - and you'd just got the Saxo lowered! lol go for it. Well, provided it could be pushed into daily service and you can do a rolling restoration. They sound like fun little motors to me...

id be very careful. that retro cars feature opened my eyes too, and theres one or two kicking about in NI too. in fact, one of our NI members on here has one but if its been modded, the turbos been wound up an you need to get a test drive and hear it spooling, or more importantly get a turbo'd car owner to listen to it. and you really want one in grey...

I really want a red one LOL. I'm just wondering how much they're worth. He's said the reserve is set at £2400. He said he'd take my car (worth Approx £1500-£1800) and £500. I don't think its worth that much but am not sure. Suppose I just have a look and see.

Well I went to see it and it was waaaaaaay overpriced. Guy's re-listed it for£1900 bin which I think is very hopeful. Very cool to drive though. I'm now addicted to turbo's and want one!! GTti's ain't that common so I've been looking at Starlet GT turbo's.
Going to have a look at one of them tomorrow, its more than I want to spend and standard but it'll give me an idea of what they're like

Not sure if thats overpriced or not.
Supply and demand etc and demand certainly outstrips the supply, they are getting rare now as you say.
Aren't Starlets equally expensive if not more so?
I was looking at them when i got my GT Turbo.

Well been talking to a couple of people in the know and they valued it at £800- £1400. Its rusty above the windscreen the rear aarches and has bubbles below the doors. He has no history for it and only the green section of the log book.
Yeah starlets are more expensive but they're a hell of a lot more readily available, quicker and slightly newer.

Whoa. Forgot all about these ! Although I saw a shopping version this morning when I delivering the post, looked as solid as a rock. I came over all " that needs lowering and chucked down a few country lanes " Had to stop myself asking if it was available...

That one looks like a lot of trouble waiting to happen. In the photos the bonnet looks out of trim and full of filler in the front section - and there's a crack in the front bumper, which probably put together means its had a shunt at some point. I wouldn't want to guess how metal was behind those side skirts as well. I reckon you've saved yourself a lot of hassle!!

Yup. The rear wheel arches are actually quite solid and the bonnet doesn't look as bad in real life. I just had a slightly uneasy feeling about it. I think if it had been cheaper (£1000-£1200) I would have got it and tidyed it up.

Hello, I'm well, internet is almost in at home, it's all there just the bloody line wont connect So for now I'm pilfering time on the work internet, but i can only do it out of work hours, hence before 8 or after 5. I'm going home next week to spend time with the GF and on the imp, its shift work, the imp gets days and the GF gets nights might even have it MOT'd by the end of next week, you never know! There is a really nice charade up for 2.5K at the moment, really genuine car with good history and well looked after. I'm very tempted indeed! It makes sence as they can manage 45mpg on the motorway and the tax and insurance is cheap, parts are a little expensive but then again I'm only doing about 6000 miles a year. Ill be keeping the stock ECU so about 13-14psi max but with a highly efficient turbo with the VNT making spool up early in the RPM range, and that linked with a jolly big intercooler it should make around 140bhp. Boost will be limited to 10psi in 5th gear, as at 15psi they have a tendancy to lose more teeth than a ten year old in debt to the tooth fairy! some pics - 200bhp gtti engine wide body d3t my 147bhp engine black beast J
