Not a great deal, but it does give the exhaust a nice rasp. On mine combined with an mx5 parts exhaust it has made it ASBO loud it also pops and crackles on the overrun. Depending on whether you need the CAT for the mot you can knock the insides out of the CAT for the same effect.

Sounds like it is not going to make a huge difference.

The cat rule is for <92 isn't it? I've got a stainless cat back system in my unit waiting for me to put it on my MX5 and been wondering wether it's worth binning it and replacing with a bypass. Loving the MX5 so far matey ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

After spending way too much money on it, the nice thing is that it puts a silly grin on Nicola's face whenever she uses it.

Great work on the roof and steering wheel ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) I'd need to paint those rear brake drums though.

Update: Fresh MOT yesterday. Testers comment "you spent some money on it?"
I replied nicely and just said "yes" After failing its test last year, I spent three times what I paid for it to sort it out, so I know this will be the first car I ever take a total ass whupping from when it gets sold on. Would count muself lucky to get back half of what it has cost me.
Still, I drove it about 100 miles yesterday and realised why my wife loves driving it more than her 62 plate modern roller-skate in summer.

Nicola has told me to sell her MX5 and spend the money on the Chevy truck resto.
As she is just not using the car at all, preferring her roller skate modern in winter.
However, I was thinking that these little pickups always look nice when you see them. And the C10 will be off the road for some time, and I would like a little runnabout.
Cue Proton Jumbuck research.
I know nothing about them, except that they run a 1500cc motor if I recall correctly.
What are they based on mechanically?
What are their design roots?
What to watch out for?
Insurance, as what do they go through?
I suspect there had to be a market somewhere, like Malaysia where they do get modded and have a following.

Protons of that era are all based on Mitsubishi underpinnings and proven running gear and so are basically bullet-proof. I would check for the usual stuff like rust and wear and tear, but also as its a commercial vehicle, condition of the bed and rear suspension.

This thread answered a question for me, we passed what I now know is a Jumbuck recently. My friend asked what is that and I said I thought it looked like a proton but appeared to have an Evo front end. After reading this a quick google has showed me the actual Proton we spotted! ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/ex-gtir/SSL234181_zpsdb11dfb2.jpg)

Tonight when I came back from London I gave the MX5 a wash and then some Zymöl polish to revive the paint. I bought this car for Nicola to compensate for selling her 1956 Ford 100E when I bought the Chevy truck. We both wanted it at the time, and I think we probably still do. However, it is so under-utilised that selling it and buying truck spares (well, putting the money in the bank) seems a better idea. The car is a relatively low mileage car. And comes with the preferred "long nose crank" which it seems is a better option. It is a typical 22 year old and far from perfect, but probably one of the better ones you will find around, if you do not want to use it as a donor, or drifting slag. We personalised it to Nicola's taste, so not original, if that is what you want, keep going. Car comes with painted, custom lined Hard Top as seen, with Mazda wall mounting brackets for storage, a very good Mohair hood, not a plastic item. Has tonneau cover. Stainless steel honeycomb radiator protector. Roll hoops. Nardil Wood rimmed steering wheel, handbrake and ally gear knob. New gaiters and gear lever rubber mounts. Ally pedal covers. Interior mats. New door speakers. Replaced leather seats with fabric due to personal taste. Rear wing. TSW Alloys, painted to match roof. Some random spares as well. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/merlin125_zps0dfe315d.jpg) Roof lining, yes, they are skulls n roses. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/merlin118_zpscb1c30e9.jpg) ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/merlin133_zpsa8691ec6.jpg) Just checked, when I bought the car, it had 128800 km on the clock. 18 months later it is around 132600 km that means this car has done less than 82500 miles. So she did about 3800km or 2400miles in the last 18 months. Loads of money spent during our ownership, some unnecessarily, but hey-ho. Bit of an under-utilised toy, hence the fact it is up for sale. These photos taken two days ago with camera phone. ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/2015%20Continues/image.jpg2_zpstibsdlws.jpg) ![](http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/niknakpix/2015%20Continues/image.jpg3_zps3lwlniiz.jpg) This little car is far from perfect, but dang, it is a good little toy for what it is. Pity it never got used as I wanted her to. MOT expires in August. Tax not relevant on new system. We insure it on some classic insurance, so affordable. Selling at £1200.00 PLEASE PM IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

Considering the sale includes the hardtop, that's really good value, Grizz. Have you tried it on mx5nutz? If it's as clean as it appears, why don't you bung 12 months ticket on it to help the sale along? I'd be tempted to keep the price the same and sell the hardtop separately as well ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
