As part of the "Tulsarama!" festivities, citizens of Tulsa were asked to guess what the population of Tulsa would be in the year 2007. The guesses were then recorded on microfilm and sealed in a steel container buried with the car. When the car and artifacts are excavated, the person whose guess is closest to Tulsa's 2007 population is to be awarded the Belvedere
Surely this means the winner of the car will either allready be dead or blind, incontinent and senile?

Blimey its Deja vu, someones posted this all over again.
So precis of previous posts on the subject...
I fear the car might be rotten when they pull it out. The 1957 - 1958 model PLymouths were terrible for rust. A concrete buynker iwll be damp as hell. There is also a lot of concern from the city surveyor's department that the "!tomb" will have been damaged during the widening of the busy road network which ruins next to it.
I was supposed to be going to Tulsarama this year to see the exhumation, but due to family commitments I cannot go.

What a weird idea, still, probably the best looking car from the 50s (in my opinion, of course) and it would be great to be there when its dug up, although there is always the possibility that it might be gone!

Wow fascinating. Can't wait to see it being dug up again.
On another note 'gasoline and oil were included incase they ran out in the future' cracked me up.

You lot must think I am some sort of weido for things in the past, possibly. Well this car sees the light of day next month (June2007) after half a century   Who knows what state it will be in after 50 years. I hope it turns out better that the Blue Peter time capsule did some years ago. Seriously though, they did take measures to preserve the car and in recent weeks the concrete casket was examined and looked still to be in good condition from the outside. We will see soon  |
